As long as dusty stays around he will win more titles the guy is a machine and he will likely get killer players going forward. Would not be shocked to see him wing three or four titles if he stays long enough.

@arioznahoosier4554 I've said all along I don't think you have to rely on 3s, if you are efficient on offense otherwise and defend well. The first determinant to shooting a lot of 3s, should be "do I have great shooters"? If the answer is no, then you shouldn't shoot a lot of 3s. If anything I think UM took too many 3s, as they aren't a great shooting team, but are very efficient offensively otherwise. Take half those misses and give them 2 pts instead of 0 and it's a runaway. I'm glad for UM. I didn't think they played particularly smartly in the 2nd half and still won. Just a super long, talented and athletic team that was very well-constructed. Happy for those kids and Dusty, although it hurts too, because I believe we had a great shot at him if we'd acted a year earlier. Seems like a good dude and he kept that douche Hurley from winning again.

What makes hurly a douche give me examples?

Any reasonable IU fan would love to have that douche in charge of the program. I'd much rather have a douche who wins than a polite guy who's mediocre.

Yep. Meanwhile, Doorknob might make it to the Round of 32 a couple times.

Basically the ceiling I have for him after what I have seen. I do not see a guy who can make the sweet sixeteen let alone a title. If you want to be a serious program you cannot hesitate and have to strike while the iron is hot. We are not a serious program but we already knew that. And we sit around and honor guys like quinn over and over again. Quinn and Benson are not IU guys they are bob knight guys and probably still bitter he got fired so I am sure they dont even care if we stink to them its likely karma

It hurts my heart far too much thinking about what it would've been like with Cignetti and Dusty May. Man, did Indiana's leadership let us down. Keep a lame duck Mike Woodson for an extra year (why!?) instead of getting the next great coach. We could've ... man. #iubb

@gthomas Funny how we never heard this narrative until now.  Back on the old rivals forum at the time, some guy posted that May was as good as hired until Woodson refused to be a good soldier and retire.  Now, since it’s clear that Dolson has failed once again, suddenly May never would have considered coming to IU at any point no matter what.  Whatever helps you to sleep at night I guess…

We will never know because we are not a serious program. Serious programs would 100% fire Woodson after year 3 and go all in on getting may. Offer him a huge amount. But michigan did what was needed and will attract killer talent for a very long time now. Props to them.

serious program would have never hired him in the 1st place

I don't have TBS on my streaming service so I had to listen to the game on the Varsity App. They had a short interview with Beilein and he said what attracted him to Michigan was a president and AD that were committed to making Michigan basketball as good as Michigan football.

Funny that IU is now in the same position when for years people would have said it was football that wasn't the serious progam.

Greenspan had Beilein locked up until Herbert found out he was a white man and nixed the whole deal.  Michigan can thank the gross incompetence of the Indiana administration for those 3 national title game appearances.

That and the fact IU did not hire him when they could have. If that had happened this program would likely be in good shape today. Another IU hiring fail.

100% I was thinking that even when they hired Dusty they hire all the guys we never offered but could have hired. They must just laugh at the stupidity of the IU admins. The problem with the sampson hire was not so much sampson and his coaching at all  it was the NCAA stuff hanging over his head it was simply a risk you do not need to take when you could  hire beilein instead.

Maybe at the time but Beilein was also unhappy about the emergence of the "one and done" player. He thought a committed player needed to stay in school for at least three years. Basically the reason he left Michigan. He would have been beside himself dealing with the portal and NIL, though we likely would have had some good years until then.

No I do not think he would still be the coach but he would have left the program in great shape for a new coach assuming IU was not   going to out of their way to screw up the next hire .

Not surprised by this. You combine a coach way out of his depth with mediocre NIL and the result is no good player wants to come here. Dolson needs to be honest as to what the limitations of this program are. The resources are not there to win big and the coach is not good enough.
