If Hoover can't be trusted to throw the ball effectively but once or twice in 30 minutes, the choice would seem to be easy. Put in the healthy player who's most ready, which would be Wilson.
A lot can happen in a week in terms of healing when you're in your early 20s, though, so I trust the coach to decide based on practice by mid-week exactly what is best to do.
I don't have much confidence in running the ball effectively 100% of the time. Even a slightly undertalented D like Minny can get the job done, stacking the box with no worries about the pass.

Cherry's a junior already. Also going thru a second season, plus spring and fall camps, physical training. So he's not some scrawny wet behind the ears kid.
I think he can play, my guess. But if Cig doesn't think he can play at a high P4 level, surely there's other teams that would like to give a once ranked prospect a shot. I hope he finds a team. I hope it's with us. We'll likely need a backup behind some portal kid. Unless Bell or Geske has passed him. Cig has mentioned both Cherry and Bell as guys we like. But if I was Cherry, it's either seeing a great chance to win the job next year, or move on this portal season.

@gros-louis Seems unlikely, but I'm 100% confident I trust in this staff to figure it out. I don't think they're going to roll the dice on a QB, so even if Cherry (or Bell) were to win the job, I'd imagine we'd add a backup QB for sure.

We can be certain Cig will sign a good portal QB. But nothing is given to him.
