This is something to watch. The SEC is also requiring teams to play a P4 non-conference game. I believe the Big Ten will have a response at some point.
With that said, I need games to start.
CIG broke them. 🤣

Maybe it would be fun for them to do it a year, or two, before the B1G adds the P4 game.
Did they really decide on this so quickly and/or quietly that the B1G wasn’t aware enough to let their members know this was coming?
Maybe IU keeps the Virginia games. Possibly something else is in the work’s we’re not aware of yet?
@cg-paul the Big Ten doesn’t require a P4 non-conference opponent.
Well, it looks like they stepped up on that, but personally I would have preferred to see the B10 go back to 8 conference games with an SEC vs B10 matchup week to kickoff the season for the whole conference. I hope maybe they can still make it happen, but feels less likely with each having a 9 game conference schedule.
If I were a betting man. I would say that's one of the next dominos to fall.
ACC announcing they are going to 9 conference games.
Then the B1G going to the 10th P4 opponent. Heard each SEC school is gaining another 5 million in media rights from ESPN which is edging them ahead of the B1G.
Pettiti probably talking to the TV partners to get a little more cheddar for that guaranteed 10th P4 game.
It would be good all around if that all happens and Virginia gets added back for the Hoosiers.
It will be a feeding frenzy to gobble up all the lower tier P4 teams adding them to schedules to get aligned with that possible 10th P4 game mandate.
They should play 2 SEC vs B1G games, 9 conference games, and 1 game vs either ACC or Big 12, and 1 misc game.
At the end of the year rank the teams based on their 12 toughest opponents. Get rid of conference championship games, and start the playoffs from 24.
16 seeds and 8 at large.
Now the winds are saying the SEC and B1G will agree to the 4 auto bids with play in games. Not a done deal but sounds like this is the direction they are heading. Fox and espn are licking their chops.
@cg-paul They wanted seven home games in 2027, not 6. I think people overlook that.
@tr32 They aren’t adding a 13th game AND expanding the Playoff.
@middawg The ACC has a math problem. 17 teams can’t play 9 conference games. While I think they make the move eventually, there are other pieces to be moved first.
