A friend of mine was told at the trophy stop by someone in the department that IU is expecting 25,000. So I would suggest not cruising in at 7:45 lol.@walt542 Yea, sparse. Not sure how people will respond to this after last season.
I’m gonna guess we get the East stand half full. Doesn’t matter, but that’s my prediction.
That would absolutely fill the east stands. And it's on a Thursday night. I think that's a little optimistic.
We are the defending national champions. The days of 5,000 at the spring game are over. Besides, it will be over by 9:30 and it’s free. There are more than enough people in the area to draw a good crowd.A friend of mine was told at the trophy stop by someone in the department that IU is expecting 25,000. I hope you're right. But if you're counting on anything approaching 25,000, I think you'll be disappointed. And I'll be happy to get smacked down if I'm wrong.
Should have a prediction thread. I'll say 19,950.
And I am not cruising down from the upper peninsula. Awesome for those of you there. Wave for the TV!

Same. Hell, I'm local and I'm not going. We are the defending national champions. The days of 5,000 at the spring game are over. Besides, it will be over by 9:30 and it’s free. I would expect a large student turnout since it is Little 500 and they can tailgate. Being free, the weather look phenominal and IU coming off a title. The crowd better be decent (15,000+). Being on a Thursday night may dampen numbers from people outside of a 90-minute radius, but I would expect a nice crowd.
Why wouldn't there be 5 to 10 thousand students in attendance?
This should be one of the biggest party nights in the history of IU.
Daughter has soccer, but mainly because spring games and all that goes with it are a snooze-a-rama, unless you can tailgate (which I cannot, again, bc of said soccer practice).@gros-louis Not an attack, but why not?
EDIT to add that none of my local friends (5 of them) that tailgate with me are planning to attend either. Work. Kids' activities. Lack of spring game interest.
They could absolutely do it on Friday night after the women's race and more people could attend.
@gros-louis Gotcha. They could, but I have heard Cig wanted it on Thursday so the team can enjoy the weekend. He also does not want to extend Spring Ball a day longer than it needs.
@gros-louis I don’t know that Friday would be better for students. Lots of pairs, parties and concerts on Friday night. I have local friends who don’t go to games but are going to this, gorgeous weather, tailgating, and most important free. I think Cig wanted it night of draft too for recruits. Plus it is going to rain Friday.
Well, I'd wager that Thursday of Little 5 week has been the date of the spring game more than any other date, so even though it's been a bit fluid, this is a popular day. I understand the reasons, it just won't ever lend itself to great attendance. And if that's not a priority, then that's fine.@gros-louis I don’t know that Friday would be better for students. Be nice if being on TV brought some extra fans instead of reducing it. I have no idea.
