@hurryinghoosiers He didn’t hire Woody. That was forced on him. Everybody knows this. CDD was all Scott though… rough start but we’ll see.
Being an AD is more than just hires. He actually kept Cig at little old IU when all the big programs came calling. And for a school with a small 55K football stadium… our NIL is pretty darn good. As is our overall AD revenue.
I get some smaller sports could be better, I agree. But big picture we are the top of college sports right now. That isn’t a mixed bag.
Most people likely would say the AD's bag is about more than just the football hire.
@iugradman It's been 1 year with CDD, and everyone (well, maybe not everyone!) can see and would agree Dolson gathered the resources to build a much better roster in year 2, and added a GM along the way. I think it's totally fair to say the jury is out on CDD, but the only folks who can say he's not going to succeed at this point, are folks who have an agenda or predetermined mindset. Bear in mind, success at this juncture, may not be ultimate success we want for our program and that will be Dolson's job to figure out when to make that call and how to make that transition, but he's shown pretty good judgement and nerve in that dept in my opinion, when not many thought he'd move on from Tom Allen when he did and many thought we'd keep CMW around for another year with his cronies in place. Be prepared for a lot of frustration if you think Dolson has screwed up because he's bought himself a lot of latitude with the Admin by hiring CC.

That's okay given how good we are. IMO, future increases need to slow down to very small amounts for a while.

@thehoosierhuddle I was at the game last year. I spoke to several PSU fans in the concession lines. There was major construction going on all around the stadium. They had a significant ticket price increase last year. One noted a $700 increase per ticket. That was more than I paid for my season ticket until this past year. They said they were okay with the increase as they expected last year to be "The Year". I'm guessing another significant increase is not going to go over well.

He made the right choice in the sport that matters most (financially) but that wasn't his only hire.

- Curt Cignetti - obviously homerun hire
- Darian DeVries - didn't look so good last year but jury is still out
Moren and Mercer were both here prior to Dolson's arrival. So the only thing Dolson could be blamed for is not pulling the plug on them. Although they haven't necessarily been awful, just mediocre. Given where Moren had the program a few years ago, mediocre is a big step backwards so it will be interesting to see how long they give her to right the ship.

i wasn't the one the brought up moren and no, it is not a joke that women's basketball has been mediocre for a couple years. Also had issue with a bunch of players leaving the program. which makes one wonder if something was going on.

@unclemark Yes, she was a Fred Glass hire. But Dolson made sure to pay her when she could have gone anywhere. Dolson also paid Cignetti when he could have gone anywhere. And not just Cignetti, but the ENTIRE football staff. I know though, the narrative for some is that IU is cheap. Blah blah blah
