Not enough are going to deal with a ####### bus to matter. Come on.
Throw alum or fan parties sure, but I doubt many are going to say 'if I only had to deal with a charter bus, I'd go, but otherwise ... ' Maybe I guess, 50 buses, you have an extra 2500 fans. And party buses add some flavor, at least.
But this isn't Hickory High School on their road to the state finals.
I can see them for the atmosphere, like heading up to Notre Dame for a playoff game.
,
My philosophy on leaving early and not attending the pre conference games is there are only 7 or 8 home games a year.
I pay good money for season tickets and try to attend every game and stay til it’s over.
I look forward to the games each year and the season is short enough without leaving early or not coming to games.
I heard people on both sides of me last Saturday saying they wouldn’t be at the next two games.
i know some people come from a lot further away than me and have things going on,not judging I guess I’m just tight and want to get what I paid for haha
And even fewer Mongolian Studies majors. Don't take it so literally.....liberal arts v. engineering....big difference. There are probably more engineering students in Purdue's band than there are music students in the 100.@tammany it’s really hard to accept that Purdue can get over 52k off a 1-win season and IU can’t get over 48k coming off a CFP appearance.
yes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, but a least there was some effort.
I have experience with both IU & Purdue students/fans.
I think it comes down to Purdue having so many engineering students while IU has a large # of Music majors as well as the the occasional Mongolian Studies major. Football fans tend to lean conservative, and are more often into football, band and similar activities. Purdue overall is just a more conservative place than IU.
There are less than 1,000 music majors at IU (undergrads). C'mon.
I tune in every game on TV. Always have when I can get them up here. Which now with streaming is almost always.
But I sure miss the days when we played a regional rival - Missouri, Louisville, Cincinatti. (I don't miss the Tom Allen teams sort of blundering a couple away.)
I think one potentially tougher team like that is worth the risk. If you win, and they have a good year.... Plus it builds buzz, players have to like them.
I understand, and maybe in a few years that will be the setup. And it's true that this year I'm not at all bummed we get a few games to develop some cohesiveness.
Is there a rail line still available from Indy to Bloomington? If so, people would go for that. Those tourist trains are very popular, especially in the Fall. All good and valid points. It’d be nice to have a bus (or train?) from Indy down to btown. Can serve drinks, TVs. Even with 69 done (so nice), parking is an issue.
Would be nice to have an Alumni “breakfast” downtown or something then bus to the game.
Ok, so now you've added 50 people to the crowd with a full bus.
@mushroomgod they did it for one game in like 2010. Dunno how popular it was. I guess I am just a city kid living in the Midwest. I enjoy driving, but if someone else could do it for me, I’d sign up 99% of the time
Keep winning , schedule better teams or more interesting connection, like Ball State. How many fans last week at Ross-Ade were for ball st. Easy to imagine quite a few.
but also make the experience more engaging what that is , I don't know. But we lack some pageantry and tradition. Playing a shitty stereo at full blast between plays doesn't build tradition.
a few more lots that can accommodate more cars isn't a terrible idea. I know every campus has this problem but why don't WE fix OUR problem.
Interesting.....googled it and could not find anything but I think I remember that happening. Must have been by Amtrack? If anyone's interested in this general topic, there's a website I found from the Monon RR Historical Technical Society that has stories and pictures of Bloomington passenger RR service back in the day. Also saw references to two train stations that may still exist (?) in Bloomington in a dilapidated state--an Illinois Central rail station trackside between College & Walnut, and a station at 7th and Morton.@mushroomgod they did it for one game in like 2010. Two other things on this general topic---back in the early 1900s there was a train accident involving Purdue fans and their team heading to Indianapolis for the game (the game was played in Indy for a few years due to the rowdiness of the fans) that killed and injured many. If that's not something you know about, it's worth googling. Also, anyone interested in the old Monon RR should visit the Monon Depot/Museum in Salem---very cool place.
Just no asphalt on the grass lots please....they are amazing the way they are and were, for many years, the best thing about IU football.Keep winning , schedule better teams or more interesting connection, like Ball State. Where are you putting more lots? There’s already under utilized free garage parking with a shuttle. Any additional parking will require a shuttle. The mall. 46 & Curry.
im sure there is land closer. They'd have to buy it. Use imminent domain if need be .. in conjunction with the city. Been done before. Hell implode the Varsity Villas .. or whatever they call it now

That is absurd. Bloomington isn’t tearing down much needed student housing that pays property taxes to build a freaking parking lot for the football stadium. There is tons of parking already.
