Ha I really dont see IU throwing that amount of cash at that player. You could load up on the O-Line for Alberto with that $.
Not sure about that account…
Why do you say that?
Im not supporting it but thought it was legit and thought I’d post it.
That account also feels IU is interested in a qb that plays for a Texas school in the big 12. Doesn’t say it but possibly Hoover at TCU?
@thehoosierhuddle I like the approach of bringing in someone like Colton Joseph and being straightforward with he and Alberto: no promises; compete and win the job so IU can be the best version of itself. We've seen that next man up often means PT and you can still get the opportunity!
Joseph isn’t gonna go somewhere that he isn’t likely to be QB1. That’s just not realistic. I’m seeing stuff about him and Arizona State or FSU.
@ribbont I have not, but my guess is he moves on. His decision wasn’t like EJs. He got buried on the depth chart

Oh -- I've got no problem with your post. I've just never heard of that account and wasn't sure if they had a track record of good info. Maybe I'm just out of the loop with this account, that could easily be the case.
If it’s true so be it, but I just find it hard to believe IU is doing this much during a dead period when Cig publicly complained about it in one of his press conferences just a few weeks ago when talking about the calendar. Contacting a player not in the portal who isn’t initiating the contact is a violation and I don’t see IU doing anything like that after the Kelvin Sampson fiasco which his violation was so small it wasn’t even a violation a few years later. Yet, he got fired and the basketball program struggled to rebuild. It just doesn’t make sense to me that anything like this is taking place, but perhaps there are loopholes I don’t know about that make it legal? If so then great, but it feels like to me people are trying to spread false rumors just like with the coaching searches. The guy who runs the big ten huddle podcast says IU is “100%” doing this, but I just refuse to believe it. There must be something I don’t know, because IU is the first place to tell on themselves when violations occur and has always seemed overly cautious with recruiting. I know nothing when it comes to the internal workings. I’m just a fan. . So, I could be 100% wrong.
Wasn't EJ buried behind 4-5 guys last year? Sarratt, Cooper, Rice, Williams, and Cross. Maybe even McCulley. Or was he hurt?
@ribbont He was hurt. He was working his way back, but he was hurt and wanted to get surgery to get to 100% this year
@olympian97 A lot of this information is coming from agents. Coaches aren’t going to publish that they’re talking to people’s camps. For the reasons you list.
however, don’t be shocked when deals go through at 12:01am
Since it is legal for players not yet in the portal, to initiate contact, I find it easy to believe that a ton of players have contacted a ton of schools.
So we could be talking to those guys. It seems we just cant initiate it? Wouldnt we already be talking to dozens of players?
@openwheel yes, absolutely agree and that’s been my point too as it is apparently legal if the athlete contacts the school, but where I have had issues is with people saying IU is the one pursuing. Maybe as Sammy says there is a loophole that allows them to speak to agents since there isn’t direct contact. That’s the part I don’t know. As long as we don’t wake up some day to hear we have been sanctioned for recruiting violations I’m happy with whatever they are doing. 🙂
@cg-paul that guy is so full of sh!t. Burners are ripping on him too.
