@dbmhoosier Franklin's was $2 or $3 million if he took another job. $15 million is probably significant. Especially if you add it to what ever you're paying to fire people.

This better not be one of them fake AI videos that’s taken over all of social media! Glad he is sticking around, and at a bit of a bargain!

Well the coaches ahead of him have a national title.  He is getting what he's earned but don't be surprised to see more contract extensions for more money if he wins a title.

He's definitely not going anywhere.  I just expected it to be more.

Indiana ain't f***ing around.

Imagine this: A coach just turned down PSU (if they contacted him, which I'm sure they did ... or planned to) to stay at IU. And he's now one of the highest paid coaches in college football.

Dare I say Cig might already be on IU's coaching Mount Rushmore? If he's not already, he will be when it's all said and done. What CCC has done with IU football defies logic, further proof that we indeed live in The Matrix ... and Cig is Neo.

With what Cig is doing for the university, this is a bargain of a deal for Indiana.

Exactly.  He will pay for himself and then some.

Finebaum is an idiot. IU has success we have never experienced in our entire history as a football program and he thinks it’s nuts for us to extend him? We will idolize Cig here much like Iowa has Kirk ferentz. Can we see a down year for cig as anything less than 7 wins? I see next year as a potential down year with everything I expect we will lose after this season, but that doesn’t bother me at all. At Penn State a 7 win season is fireable. Here is still far exceeds our history prior to Cig. IU wasn’t going to replace Cig. Ponying up was the only option. You don’t let your unicorn ride off into the sunset.

I said when he was hired, and again when we had another thread expectations, that all I wanted was to see a team that looked well coached, and was sure we would see it. Nearly everyone in the thread was saying similar things.

Boy did we get it! Right away.

Yeah, hes exceeded my expectations. And they were high on winning too... But he blew past everything.

I can take a down year now and them. Because we will still be playing well coached football. I doubt we will see very many though. Coach is only starting to build real depth through high school recruiting. High school guys who choose Indiana all have a chance to develop into stars.

I’m glad to see this. His staff needs big raises too. Make Haines the highest paid DC in the country.

@drjb Yeah, he is doing a great job. I have given him and the department a hard time in the past, but something clicked.

The contact is likely giving to have increases for the staff too.  Also NIL commitments I’m sure are up — won’t be in the contract but it’s there.
