@drjb Yeah, he is doing a great job. I have given him and the department a hard time in the past, but something clicked.

Scott has come from the bottom all the way to the top of the mountain,

very few bleed IU red as he does

now if DD makes IUBB relevant again..........

Indiana's head football coach will make over $1M per year more than Alabama's head football coach.

Let that sink in.

This is a no brainer. Kudos to the AD for pulling the trigger immediately.

@dbmhoosier you like many don’t understand the difference in a firing vs a walk. Kirby smart has no walk out buy out. This is a pretty standard buyout. 15 million to walk but if we fire him it’s the full contract.

Last night I actually starting thinking about this a couple hours before I usually get up. Thinking, Penn State could be an actual threat, not likely, but could. Kept running through my head, lol, Indiana football when I was trying to sleep.

So I thought a bit ago, now I can sleep!

But probably cant... Too Pumped! 😉

Go Hoosiers!

Think about this… two years ago , Cig was making 600,000 a year. Now he makes 11.6 million! Thats insane. I’m not sure there’s another Cig out there, doubtful. But can you imagine how frustrated he was knowing what he could do and not getting the opportunity until he was 60. You know there’s lots of other guys who think that. I do think Cig has some loyalty to us that we gave him the opportunity.

Anybody else agree that in Cig's response video short, that will get huge airplay, that if someone had placed a plate of cookies and a plate of brownies on his desk and he had another quip about them, it would have been utterly fantastically funny.

Just lean all the way into it.

As a fan of IU football for 40 years, this brings me absolute joy, full stop.

As an employee of IU for 25 years, given the pay cuts we've received (less 1% IU retirement contribution, 30% increase in employee health care premium etc.) this just shows where the money is.  Yes, I realize the cuts to my take home salary are based on the supposed state financial cuts to higher education and that the money flows are NOT the same, but it doesn't sit well with me in general.

Before I get hate, I'm thrilled about this extension from a fan/alumni perspective.  GO IU!

2 years ago,  Cig wasn't making 500K.  When he got hired, he was under 5 mil.

In less then two years, he's increased his salary by more then double what he was hired on.

That might be the biggest rise ever for college football.

I absolutely understand the difference.  Nate Oats buyout had he wanted the IU job would've cost close to $20M and that is basketball.

I feel you.  I wanted a live Bison mascot, and some people were like "that's too expensive!"

But they certainly have the money to do this, don't they.  I'm not grousing, I'm glad Cig is staying.  Now, relocate the flagpole and build a bison enclosure!

@tammany

I'm sure the conversation went like this.....NIL must be balanced.  This is a basketball state but football brings in 4x the fans.

No more of that buying the best players in the transfer portal because the basketball coach can't coach and the entire team just left.  Mendoza did get $2M, so there's that.  Now, go get the right 4 and 5 stars, and some portal guys to keep up with the Notre Dames and Ohio States of college football.

As far as I am concerned, FB should be eating first on NIL.  FB is much bigger than MBB.

The resource level MBB is at this season is enough and MBB needs to earn it if they want more.

Natural progression.  Only question was what day it happens.  AD Dolson is very proactive.  + 1000% support from Pam Whitten.  Great combo elevating Hoosier athletics.
