Hoover is good.
Just maddeningly inconsistent.
Rourke playing, we win today by two touchdowns.
Or, if Marsh catches a great high pressure throw for a touchdown, we probably win.
Last throw to Marsh was another donkey.
Anywhere 1 to 2 yards more inside and Marsh adjusts to it and muscles it in.
Hoovers timing on throws 25 or more yards down field is just not synced with the WR release and speed.
Throwing guys open is a skill Hoover just doesn't seem to have.
If Marsh needed it anywhere else, to stay in bounds, then he sucks. And he doesn't suck, he's excellent.Anywhere 1 to 2 yards more inside and Marsh adjusts to it and muscles it in.
Sure, give Hoover another half second before he throws. Different story. Then he can see exactly where the defender is and throw less arc or more inside. And maybe Hoover would eff it up then. He didn't mess up this one though.
Game winning throw. Not a tough catch for a good college receiver. Oh well, they missed.
I think Hoover has had a sore arm for quite awhile… I didn’t mention it when I noticed it several games back but now that everyone is aware that he hurt it again today I figure it’s safe to speak of it…
Sickening way to lose but “the” o$u knows they got lucky…
Plenty of Coaching points for Cig to work with… Details matter…🙉🤬😞
I would think we’re going to ride with him unless he falls off a cliff. Cig and Shanahan thought he was the right guy and that his problems at TCU were a function of their high risk offense combined with their lack of D. It now doesn’t seem that simple, and that his issues were more complex than that. He struggles to see the field and doesn’t progress through his reads well, which means he locks onto to his initial target. Doing that means he tries to sometimes thread needles he shouldn’t, and that often results in him sailing the ball. Tough day for him. Can’t argue with any of that, but OSU really made Hoover uncomfortable, just like Nebraska did. Again, he’s a nice player, but he’s not remotely close to Mendoza or even at the same level as Sayin.@jackskip23 not sure they beat us as much as we just didn’t execute the advantages the play calls created. So many missed reads and throws by Hoover. The fumble by Chandler. OSUs D Line did keep our run game in check well. And if Hoover is gonna continue to miss reads and throws, not being better running the ball is very concerning.
Next weeks game will be a dogfight if we don’t figure out how to run the ball.
Sayin didn't impress, but Hoover isn't the guy to get it done. His stats (until today) have looked good, but I think that's more the offense hiding his deficiencies. He hasn't passed my "eye test." When he had to produce, he didn't.
Has Cig ever benched a starting QB and gone with a backup? Ever? Anywhere?
to me, Hoover has a REALLY high bar that he gets measured against. While he may be close, he doesn’t match that very hard comparison.
Marsh played that last play very lacsidazically. To me, he was already reading sports illustrated before he made that catch. That disappoints me very much.
Tantrums don't change outcomes
Losing is part of life. Sometimes the answer is simply NO.
We see this team in the B10 champ game in LOS, we win!
If UCLA and OSU win out, it'll be those two in LOS I assume.
One of UCLA or Wisconsin will lose a game, because they play, I wonder what the tiebreaks are? Might be several one loss teams. Iowa has 1 loss, and we don't play Iowa either.
Someone, Cig maybe, said all their goals are still controlled by themselves except going undefeated.
But I doubt getting into the B1G title game is in our control.
I have no problem no going to the BTC since they are all going away next year.
After reflection and seeing that last IU poss with Marsh not getting his foot in, I am not upset of the effort this team put forth! A few better passes by Hoover and IU would have won this game! Let’s finish strong and make sure we play these oh sht basturds again in Indy for a spot in the CFP! I still have hope!
Anybody know how many designed runs outside the tackles we ran?
Remembering 1, maybe 2.
In hindsight, seems egregious.
Sure seems like Shanahan and Cignetti are stubborn and kneecap the offense by running straight up the middle every time. Maybe now that it has cost them a game they will wake up.
Lets all remember that Ohio State is a really good football team that we'll see again in the big 10 title game if we both win out.
Even with a B- Hoover, we were a foot out of bounds from beating a top 5 team.
Georgia lost today. Texas lost today. Alabama lost today. There isn't an undefeated team SEC team left.
We are absolutely a title contender.
Getting out of Bloomington was hellish. Finally home. Thought about this game for 2 hours. Here's what I got (besides traffic succckkkks)
- Indiana was better on the LOS on both sides of the ball.
- IU WR were open most of the day and there were plenty of missed opportunities.
- Is Hoover trying to be too fine with his passes and playing with the fear of trying not to throw an interception?
- That was a 'F' game from special teams. Punt game was so bad they banked on a 55-yard FG attempt.
- I thought the defense was great. Sayin threw the ball into the stands anytime heat was coming.
- This team makes the mistakes last year's didn't. Fumbles, missed kicks, bad penalties.
- Indiana will still be in the mix for the CFP. It also bums me out that the stress of a game like today may not exist next year.
- Fans were great, but it may be time to retire Hurts So Good.
