Yep, this team doesn’t have the “it” factor. Not disciplined and too mistake prone.
Cignetti needs to do a better job of evaluating his next QB.
I worry about the hangover from a game like this, but I have to trust with Cignetti that won’t happen and he’ll turn this into a net positive.
Cant win them all, but to lose like this is hurtful! We had this game, but lost by inches! Props to Ohshit at the end, they didnt forcefully cheat to win for once! We should be able to see them again this year at the B10 champ game!
@pazhoosier tons of great play calls today that produced wide open receivers.
Hoover kind of got exposed today. Even when not pressured, he wasn’t very accurate or aware of where the ball needed to go. Good player certainly not a difference maker.@jackskip23 Soooo lazy by both of them.
@hoosiers-rising Hoover was awful today. He missed sooo many open receivers. Even a couple of his completions, it was receivers adjusting back to catch a poorly thrown ball.
Yep
@jackskip23 alarming how many bad throws he had today. Missed so many reads too. IU had no business losing today.
That was the most fitting way for that game to end. Devil's in the details...
Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle
Surprisingly, we’re also pretty pedestrian in our kicking game. Being short from 55 isn’t a sin, but doinking a chip shot, especially after his issues last week, is starting to be an issue. But we lost today because their D beat us, and Hoover was a big reason why that happened.@jackskip23 alarming how many bad throws he had today. Missed so many reads too. @jackskip23 not sure they beat us as much as we just didn’t execute the advantages the play calls created. So many missed reads and throws by Hoover. The fumble by Chandler. OSUs D Line did keep our run game in check well. And if Hoover is gonna continue to miss reads and throws, not being better running the ball is very concerning.
Next weeks game will be a dogfight if we don’t figure out how to run the ball.
Can’t argue with any of that, but OSU really made Hoover uncomfortable, just like Nebraska did. Again, he’s a nice player, but he’s not remotely close to Mendoza or even at the same level as Sayin.@jackskip23 not sure they beat us as much as we just didn’t execute the advantages the play calls created. Sayin didn't impress, but Hoover isn't the guy to get it done. His stats (until today) have looked good, but I think that's more the offense hiding his deficiencies. He hasn't passed my "eye test." When he had to produce, he didn't.
Has Cig ever benched a starting QB and gone with a backup? Ever? Anywhere?
@unclemark That would be a tad extreme under the circumstances, wouldn’t it?

I can't hardly believe nor understand the missed wide open receivers Hoover had today. He missed two for sure scores to Preston in the 1st quarter and to Schott in the 3rd. And marsh on another one which also would have been a Td. His throws were sailing on him in the first and under threw passes in the 3rd. Then went back to sailing them. That last pass to marsh was to far to the sideline however marsh still should have made it and stayed in bounds. Man I miss Fernando and Sarrat.
@unclemark Thst would be a tad extreme under the circumstances, wouldn’t it?
Yeah, hot take on my part. I'm just really disappointed in Hoover. He will win a lot of games, but he just doesn't have what it takes to take us to the promised land.
