i know everyone is excited about the offense but i think this defense has a chance to be better than last year...and that's with losing jailin walker, cj west, shawn asbury, lanell carr and others...

if you read, you can tell just how juiced i am for the iDL. i think the foursome of wheeler, tucker, ratcliff and landino is going to be one of the better ones in the conference which will help kamara, daley, wyatt (and ndukwe) get more 1v1's on the outside.

the secondary might be a bit thin at safety as far as depth but the talent in the CB room and with the starts at safety has a chance to be very good as well.

i'm still a bit nervous about LB but having fisher there always helps.

I love our defense & across the board there is speed.

i just think this years team has a lot less question marks compared to last years.

sure, last year was a much easier schedule but with a deeper team overall, more talent overall and the second year in the system for (most) everyone, it's a very exciting time to be a fan...

very high floor.

Over the middle will again be the "weak" spot for this defense like it was last year. If there is any weak spots. I am also very bullish on this defense.

Does anyone else have trouble accessing these?  I subscribed and they work on my desktop but they don’t open on my phone even though I’m logged in.

I agree that this defense should be pretty good. I am still concerned about LB though. Hardy and Jones are both good but I do not think either has the speed and instinct that Walker had. Walker saved many plays last year that stopped opponents drives with remarkable speed and his nose for the ball. That will be missed.

@walt542 -Right, Coach Haines designs the defense & calls the defensive plays to fit our personnel. I believe Hardy will be a star this year. ( my pick for "sleeper" this year) We'll know pretty soon as Aug. 30th is rolling around.

i agree with you. walker was an athletic freak and there was a clear drop when anyone but he and fisher were on the field.

i think especially with quentin clark moving to edge, hardy and jones are really going to have to show some growth in the 2nd year of this system and the 2nd year with derek ownings. both needed to get faster and keep working on their agility.

I'm pretty positive about DL improving overall.  Improving enough to make up for any maturing curve the new LB'S need till they gain confidence and experience.  AF is a pretty good on field coach.
