@unclemark On that note, and I never park up north so I have no idea, but I wonder how well it works coming in to take the the Sample Rd exit and cross over Griffey and get to Matlock (Fee) at 45/46. Probably depends how they handle that intersection.
We come from the North and if I am early enough then I can use the Walnut/College Exit, if I wait too long then I have to use the bypass exit or get off at Sample Road. Either works fine, my issue has never been getting into the lots because its spread out over several hours. It's the exit that is in major need of an overhaul. Most large events I've ever attended that had good exit strategies do a few things. They turn roads into one way pipelines to disburse people away from the center. They essentially eliminate left turns that cut across these heavy exit routes and they funnel people not necessarily in the direction they want to go eventually. IU also doesn't do a great job of communicating the actual traffic patterns. If you actually look at what they posted for 2026 parking traffic patterns, the map for my parking lot actually shows no way to get into or out of my lot. It literally shows the only road I can use to get in and out of my lot as closed.
For $4k they could consult an IMPD traffic control officer to figure more common sense exiting. Of course maybe watering hole establishments are paying more to keep it from happening.
@bbh42 This is really nitpicky, but it’s a message board so…
The traffic flow maps could show more than just the immediate area around the stadium. Show the traffic flow all the way to I-69. And for the folks south of 17th… show them routes to the 3rd street on ramp. And fix some of the errors like your lot.
It should get better. Part of this is so many new people coming down for games and expanded parking ops — everyone (fans and staff) should learn after a few games what works. It’ll probably improve a bit.
Overall though, the gameday and tailgate atmosphere is awesome. I don’t want to lose sight of that.
If you're not tailgating and willing/able to walk 25 minutes, you can park in town for free or $1/hr and there is almost no traffic in or out -- it's quite convenient really.
This in spades.
I went to the 24 Michigan game and parked downtown.
It was SO nice to get out and go north. We out walked the traffic problem!
Is College/Walnut north of 45/46 closed postgame? I assume it's open.
Pregame I get why it's closed -- cars exiting 69 at College/Walnut and 45/46 will mostly converge on the same intersection, which isn't great for traffic flow, as there would be more stop/start to get people through the intersection.
I'm guessing it's easier to funnel everyone through the 45/46 exit and focus on keeping the 45/46 line of traffic flowing into the stadium area without interference of a bunch of cars coming south on College/Walnut.
I suspect that's the thinking. It also prevents people from cutting over to Griffey dam and coming in the "back way" down Dunn to 45/46.
Years ago we used to work our way to the back door by the church tht is now the Marching Hundred space. Did that off of 37. Not sure I could find that again
@unclemark We've discovered a little time saver by taking the Sample Road exit. Kinda windy but scenic Monroe County too...drops us right on Dunn where we want to be.

I think this is exactly what I was referring to above.
@bucketgetter I like that exit. I most often take that exit when coming in from the north and then take Boltinghouse and Bethel lane to get to the east side of town with little traffic and no stop lights.

All of the above, but the real answer is still leaving early. We will depart the north side at 7 at the latest with intentions to be in our spot by 8:15. I suspect the ISP and local law/gameday workers will be ready.
The process was fairly smooth today on the roads and at the gates. Big improvement. Will be nice when the concessions and barhrooms are updated and we finally get those suites.
69 was an issue too after the game. It was slow going way past the sample road exit heading north. You have a ton of people merging on there and then there are a couple merge points with lanes ending as well.
Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle

We are deep in the white lot and had a cuople cocktails and leftover sammies after the game. Not bad when we got there..
We really have no issues getting in and out of Lot 11 even for the two close games this year. We don't try to go all the way to the front. We've learned to enter the stadium earlier because that has been a mess this year. We got in 35 min before kickoff yesterday. The bathroom situation continues to be a mess. The port a johns on the south end are still faster than the regular lines but that secret is out. I would buy food but I'm not waiting in those lines. The concourse gates could easily be moved out in advance of the major stadium renovations.
It was easy peasy for us in and out of lot 14. Of course going to the east side helps. We got in about 45 minutes before game time and also had no problem. I noticed they added a few more security gates around the area we go in. Also no big deal getting food before hand. The concession line went pretty quickly at that time. The restroom lines were bad but as mentioned I went to the porta John’s on the south side and had little wait. All in all for the size crowd it was OK.
