I'm with you. They haven't been impressive. Duke put up more yards against Illinois when they played each other. That final score wasn't telling the whole picture of that game. Illinois won a lot of close games last year and the Illinois fans I know think they get smashed next weekend.
@yothn I think we beat them by more than 14. They beat Duke off a ton of TOs and because Duke has no run game. Duke is not a good football team. They got destroyed by Tulane (score does not reflect the game) and struggled with Elon.
Illinois is too well coached and veteran of a team for it to end up like the Nebraska game last year, but we should be able to wax them by multi scores.
@hoosierdaddy If its a relatively clean game, we should win. But its week 4, and they're ranked in the top 10. It won't take all that many big mistakes from our guys for Illinois to win. Key penalties, injuries, turnovers... stay away from those, and IU should win.
I'm more worried about us than Illinois. And it's nothing against us, it's just a big game with a lot of new guys and when the pressure is ramped up we could play well or play poorly (duh!). If we play well we should be tough to beat...
I'm hoping it's still home field advantage, when we played our first few during the afternoon, now all of a sudden at night and everything looks different.

No siree! That is the old IU mentality, and one Cig specifically wants us to do away with. There should certainly be an expectation of a win and a disappointment if we lose. Not just with Illinois but with Oregon and PSU as well. To be a contender, you must go in expecting to win every game, not hoping to win. That's how teams feel like they can't get over the hump or are stricken by bad luck. No, its just the mentality. IU wins this by 17 or more.
