@thehoosierhuddle I generally like Josh Pate's takes. I do think it would be better if our DC wasn't engaging folks on SM, but it is amusing and he's not wrong. Of course Pate wants coaches making unvarnished comments on SM, then his episode topics write themselves. Won't surprise me if Cig shuts it down though. Sort of goes along with staying focused on the task at hand. That was last year.

@kkott It is good for business. I love his take on this one. Simpson gave a backhanded compliment, and the coach called him out. Then, Bama fans' feelings got hurt, so he responded. Do I love him always being on SM? No, but it's not a huge deal.

When losing 38-3, not sure there is a point in acting like he knew what the opposing defense was going to do and how they were simple.  I don't know how vanilla our defense is compared to others....but obviously what we did worked and that's all that matters.

If he was Miss Cleo in the pocket, he would have led Bama to more than 3 points.

@thehoosierhuddle Agreed, I don't think it's a big deal at all, and there's no fanbase (well, maybe OSU or ND) that deserves a little tweaking more than Bama fans, but I just don't think it fits Cig's 100% focus on the task at hand. Won't surprise me if we don't see it in the future. But, he may not mind it. He's certainly never minded tweaking folks when called for!

@kkott he got into with some Oregon fan after our regular season win.  I was kinda worried it might come back to bite him in the Peach Bowl.

But it didn’t 😬

I’d prefer he stay off social media too, but at the end of the day it’s not too big a deal I suppose.

@hurryinghoosiers If you recall, Simpson led Bama to 0 points and got knocked out of the game, after about 2.5 quarters. Their backup moved the ball better and got them down inside the 10, which led to their field goal and only points. So weird that they only took the FG there. Talk about waving the white flag.

It was less than 2 quarters because coming out of HT was when Austin Mack took over.  To those of us at the game...or at least my group, we didn't know if it was a sub for performance or something else.  We weren't privy to the fact that he had gotten injured on the Ponds hit that caused the fumble.

Simpson came out in the 3rd quarter when we were up 17-0.    Didn't seem able to figure out our "simple" defense.

@gros-louis I thought that was the case, because ironically I'd watched the youtube compressed game, where they show every play, but no breaks so it takes about 48 minutes to watch the whole game. Thought it was with about 7 minutes gone in the 3rd when he came out, but I thought maybe he'd come out for a bit earlier or something. Didn't really change the pertinent facts: Simpson sort of belittled a defense that completely stymied him and his coaching staff and whooped them by 35 pts. Not a good look.

I believe there is an intentional publicity effort this offseason for Indiana Football to stay front and center of college football media space.

This will be 100% confirmed if Fall Fashion trends commence for men and women both sporting quarter zips with no undershirt or bra.

@kkott Admitting he couldn't read IU's defense, a week or so before the NFL draft, probably isn't a great business decision.  I'm not an NFL exec, but I would think making that admission, or having questions about Simpson's abilities to read defenses, are far brighter red flags, than him just not being able to execute against a well oiled machine of a defense.

This one isn't hard to understand... and I think Haines responses have been hilarious.  And analysts watching IU's games, and talking about them on the various shows in between their games, routinely lauded Haines defense for disguising their coverages.

The list of very good quarterbacks that struggled against IU's defense is long, and distinguished.  But Simpson couldn't come out and say he couldn't read it.

Bad look in my mind.  Natty coach rolling in the mud with pigs. Pigs like the mud, I've been told.  Go Hoosiers!  We should raise our game, not race to the bottom, in my (one guy's) opinion.  Come on Coach.  Go Hoosiers!

@mobilehoosier It’s his DNA though and it gives him an edge. Don’t love it, but it’s not the worst thing in the world
