I guess I'll have to be satisfied that the game will forever be seen as Whittingham's 'first win** as Michigan coach.
I notice it didn't take the supposedly straight shooting high character coach very long to embrace the 'Michigan way'.
Instead of saying "We lost the game. But the officials game us a second try at it. Of course we would take it." He says 'No, no, there was one second on the clock, really there was. We won fair and square'.
A Michigan Man now.
I don't think any coach would say they lost the game in that situation
Of course not. No coach would.
Especially not a Michigan Man. 🤣
Michigan Sucks. And so does Ohio State.
CrimsonCast has a great video this morning with Zach Singer, who has a lot of technical experience with scoreboards, and Michigan's clock specifically. Good watch.
That was Great!
//If you’re pressed for time run it up to the 10 minute mark to start…//
Basically, the Big Ten and the ref crew are completely full of sh-t…. They are lying their a—‘s off and unfortunately some people out there are believing them…
They also make a Very Important point in that if the Big Ten has now suddenly decided that the Chicago Replay Center clock is now the “official” clock (which it is Not supposed to be) they had damn well better let the rest of the league in on it…
I hope Oklahoma and anyone else the lying, ref buying, oversized weasels play this year and in the future go way out of their way to run the score up against them Big Time (with the rationale being: “Leave No Doubt” and leave no room for their refs, or the Big Ten offices to screw your team)…!!!
Im just glad the rest of the country has finally been made aware of what has been happening to us since the “60’s…
Sadly, I don’t think it’ll change much of anything up there…
With the Big Ten front office clearly “in on it” there’s nowhere to go to solve the issue.
Like I said above, the only solution is to absolutely destroy them by totally running up the score on them and never letting off the gas since clearly now no one really knows how much time is left in any game you’re playing against them (or anyone else the Big Ten office might choose to favor).,.

@lncolnpk Don't remember where I saw it, but a former official said they were always told, and he knows that's how refs are still instructed to reference the game and TV clock because they are synched and it will help avoid an uproar, if there was any discrepancy.
@goat ... Sorry, but you're totally wrong....
I can attest that as a retired network Producer of live sports, all NCAA college clocks are syn'd with TV and ALL football stadium clocks are to be THE OFFICIAL time that is to be used by the officials.... The old days of when the officials went solely by the Side Judge's timer went away at least a decade ago...
While The Side Judge still keeps time on his watch, it is STRICTLY (by NCAA rules) a backup in case there's a malfunction with the stadium clock... There was no problem with the clock at this game.
Also, the clock that was was on-screen was a shot from the stadium clock... It was not a graphic generated from the production truck.
So, the Bronco's definitely got screwed
How, or better yet, why the refs decided to go against the procedure set by the NCAA was a big mystery to the NBC Rules Expert (don't recall his name) who commented about the officials error at the close of the broadcast. He knew the procedure the officials were to go by.
I've seen probably 3 instances within the closing minute of that game now where the stadium scoreboard clock was 1 second behind the clock NBC was showing. And then there's this:
To me, this is an Occam's razor thing. Yeah, in real time it looked like complete BS, and there was clearly something wrong with either the NBC feed or the stadium clock, but this wasn't any sort of intentional cheating or something nefarious going on. But the review of the timing was immediate. The clip from above was right after it happened. There was no time to put together some elaborate scheme to screw WMU. And the MAC commissioner and WMU president heard all of the explanations and agreed with the call.
I'm no Michigan fan. I love underdog upsets. I was rooting for WMU the whole time I was watching. I thought they got screwed when I went to bed Saturday night. Then, stay with me here, I got access to MORE information, put it all together, and realized they got the call right.
I remember a men's basketball game in Assembly Hall against Davidson (I think?) where the opposite happened. Davidson hit a nearly half-court shot to beat IU at the buzzer. Replay used the TV clock showing the shot was in time. Later, and too late to give IU the win, they compared it to the official clock and the shot was late. IU should have won. I was at the game, but for the life of me can't remember which year.
Just searched online for IU Davidson basketball, so no, it wasn't Davidson.
It was UNC Charlotte
Found it:
@low-level-flyer Wow, I live in Charlotte and my first thought was I don't remember Charlotte being competitive with IU. Saw IU wins here and in Assembly Hall.
So cool to rush the field when your ranked team is gifted a win over WMU. I've never witnessed 110,000 morons gathered in one place.
MAC from the top rope
