This staff is paid too much to have a dud game.
I just want to say thanks for all the joined today. I will keep the thread pinned through tomorrow and then unpin it. Remember our IUFB Chat is Wednesday night. I haven't gone through all these posts yet, but will before bed.
Again, thanks for the support and joining us.
@iugradman Ok...so fire them? What do you want? They got booed. Most of the press isn't favorable.
I’m just frustrated. I spent eight months looking forward to today and it was a let down.
@openwheel this was not toward any poster. Just that I said the kid could scoot
Yeah, I thought of coming back and editing my retort after the SECOND TD.That's lame.I warned people
Yeah, thanks for the heads up.
this was not supposed to be directed at any poster, just saying I knew the kid could scoot
To say 'you were right' or something, because I realized you weren't really saying many people were taking ODU too lightly.
Some perspective… do we need or want perspective??? I don’t know, but we certainly weren’t alone with the sluggish performance.
1. ODU very nearly beat South Carolina in the opening game last year. SC was a borderline CFP team last year.
2. Many of the other B10 teams had sluggish offensive performances yesterday, and a couple of them had bad losses.
3. Last years opening game was also sluggish like this.
4. Margins like IUs yesterday were more common than big blowouts were.
Let’s see how they look against ISU and Kennessaw State. KSU almost beat Wake Forest yesterday… they’re likely not a Western Illinois level pushover. Same with ODU.
I saw a bunch of blowouts yesterday by top 25 teams and even non top 25 teams. Maybe their competition was worse. I don’t know how Old Dominion stacks up against the likes of Georgia State, Marshall, Ball State, or Long Island.
@openwheel The parachuting bison tied the Brady punt return for IU's best play.
@iugradman relax, this team will get better. Last year’s first game was no different. The sign of really good coaches is the improvement from game to game after they get some good tape to work with.
Most of those teams that played better were not working with as many new pieces as IU is. Maybe other than Purdue. Should we be concerned about them? I think not yet. Too early.
@iugradmanugradman they are better than State, LIU and Ball State. I’m more disappointed in the fact Purdue sold 6,000 more tickets than IU coming off a 1-win year.
I read the ODU game thread on one of their sites. One comment complained about making our "pedestrian' QB look good, lol.
The funniest was after the punt return TD the guy who said "I hate that return even more than I hate Cig" and next poster responded "No, I still hate Cig more." LOL Apparently they were down on their special teams coach coming into the year, that return didn't help.
Several complaints about our dee dominating their O-line, but then someone pointed out we were a top 10 defense last year and probably the best they've faced in quite awhile.
