@openwheel Interesting view point. Do you do that for all opponents?
Usually. I like to hear their views so I can find out if it matches up with what I thought I saw. Like, I thought their receivers looked weak. The ODU fans think their receivers are really weak... lol
A surprising comment was their discussion of QB, said Joseph 'probably' the better runner but the backup 'is faster in a straight line' ... !!!! Wow, because Joseph is fast.
For this one not a lot to learn. I just usually check out the other team's boards.
@openwheel it’s hard to believe any one is fast than Joseph. If he is they just need to run the triple option
Some perspective… do we need or want perspective??? I don’t know, but we certainly weren’t alone with the sluggish performance.
1. ODU very nearly beat South Carolina in the opening game last year. SC was a borderline CFP team last year.
2. Many of the other B10 teams had sluggish offensive performances yesterday, and a couple of them had bad losses.
3. Last years opening game was also sluggish like this.
4. Margins like IUs yesterday were more common than big blowouts were.
Let’s see how they look against ISU and Kennessaw State. KSU almost beat Wake Forest yesterday… they’re likely not a Western Illinois level pushover. Same with ODU.
Not Western Illinois, but really bad. Last in Conference USA last year. 2-10 overall, including NC losses to UTSA, Louisiana, SJ State and UT Martin....closest loss was by 11. Have a 1st year HC and two new coordinators. Picked to finish last in conference this year. And Dexter Williams was 12/33 passing v. Wake. I don't know what's wrong with Wake, but if we can't name the score this game we won't be going 9-3 or 10-2 this year..........
@mushroomgod Wake has a new staff and their QB stinks (according to my buddy who went to wake).
Should be a name your score game, but Kennesaw is better than last year (not saying much).
Was able to watch the game last night for the first time and really don’t understand the wringing of hands? This game was not even close.
Total Yds 502-314
First Downs 29-10
Possession 41:28 - 18:32
It was one of those that you say ‘the score doesn’t reflect the reality of what happened’.
Cooper simply catches the ball and the score is 35-14. DB’s stay home on one of the QB td’s and its 35-7. Score on one of the 4 trips to the goal line and it’s 42-7.
ODU couldn’t have played better and IU couldn’t have played worse, and it was still a 2 TD win. Add to it, 47 players playing their first game together in the first game of the year, and reality sets in.

While you’re right, the perception and feeling of the game are a bit off.
First play from scrimmage, 75 yard TD run by the qb (untouched, I believe). Completely took the air out of the stadium. Can’t believe all the recruits we had there were impressed by that.
We get the ball, quickly move into scoring position. I start thinking okay, score here, run them out of the stadium, no big deal.
However, we don’t score, ultimately getting stoped on fourth down. Really about the worst thing that could have happened on that drive other than a turnover.
Now I’m feeling really uneasy, like I suppose most of us were. I’m sure the stadium felt the same way and some doubt started to creep into the players heads a bit.
IU basically controls the rest of the game but can’t quite get the scoreboard to prove it. But late in the game, another long TD by the qb really pisses everyone off and allows that doubt to creep in again.
Is perception reality? Time will tell us that.
I think we’re dealing with a lot more uncertainty, at this point, than I thought would be the case.
Go Hoosiers!
If IU dominates their next two opponents, then we can view the ODU performance as just the team clearing out the cobwebs and getting comfortable playing with one another.
@iugradman agree, if the defensive lapses and red zone failures continue, I’ll change my assessment

Who is this person who hacked gradman's account and started posting all sensible and shit?
