Thats a nice article and definitely worth reading.
I tried posting it yesterday (I read it as soon as I got the notification on my phone) but couldn’t figure out how to do it on this site.
Good article. Still goal post moving though. The definition of a "really big win" keeps changing. Let's say Penn State loses to Oregon and at Ohio State and then loses to IU will they count that? Or if Oregon loses this week and IU goes out there in 2 weeks and wins?
What if Illinois finishes 10-2 with losses to just IU and Ohio State? Does that count?
The goalposts keep moving!
If their argument isn't solid media giants only option is relocating the goal line. I've laughed and sneered at them for years. Like weathermen never have to be right.
Fun read, thanks.
I don't see the article moving the goalposts. We need a 'really big win' to get where Cig wants us to go. And he carefully puts the havent played anybody in italics to pretend he isn't saying so.
But to those who do say it (there are not that many out there saying that... anymore, the SEC trying to get 3 loss teams in and ESPN talking shills for the same reason, don't count.) we can say ...
15-2 with a loss to the national title winner, at their field, and a loss to the national title runner-up, at their field. And wins over the previous years title holder and runners up.
Must play in some really shitty conference to not have played tough teams yet with that record. And the title game must be really weak sauce each year. Must be they're always weak frauds.,
Anyway, Iowa won't count, to ESPN, because Iowa lost a close one against Iowa State (AT Iowa State, and by end of season or now Iowa might easily be better) even though Iowa State will be touted by whoever ESPN thinks needs it.
But Iowa is a really tough out, who really needs a win against us this weekend for their goals. So we know they're tough, and we can enjoy a big win if we get it.
Beat Iowa!
