I want anyone we play to beat any OoC teams they play. (Except Western over Michigan wouldve been cool. ) I want every team we play to have their strongest resume possible.
So I wanted OSU to stomp Texas. But Ryan Day choked it away. Was handed to him on a platter since it took Manning about three quarters to finally find the range on his throws, but even with that OSU lost.
It was cool anyway, because until the fourth quarter I was able to make fun of Arch hype, then at the end was able to LMAO at Day and OSU. Win-Win!
OSU @ Texas was sort of a win/win for IU.
Arch is a senior QB that doesn't scare anyone and Texas runs a gimmick presnap offense most of the time with their jet motions nearly every play. Plus their backs are 5 foot tall, quick, but not run you over types.
Ohio St. got embarrassed giving up 21 fourth quarter points to ensure their choke job. They haven't found a #2 WR that seems legit.
All three levels of their defense have pretty huge question marks, especially the D-line and backers.
Plus they were willing to give up on their dink and dunk passing game in the second half which means they have no idea what their identity is.
Couldn’t have happened to a finer group of folks…

Sorry, I'll never root for them or their coach under any circumstances. I was tickled with the outcome of that game after I'd resigned myself to an OSU win.
Yeah, I'll normally pull for a B1G team vs. someone OOC (even Purdue), but not OSU. Same with MI. Used to feel that way about WI, but that's changed to IL. I'm sure most of you understand the why of that.

@jj_mcclure Not a great first two weeks at all. Today could’ve been salvaged with an OSU win, but they choked it away. It was nearly worse but Iowa hung on.
Duke beating Illinois was a blow. Washington looked bad. Purdue lost in typical Purdue fashion. Oregon has Penn State vibes.
The most amazing aspect of the BT teams so far is that there does not appear to be one team that is significantly better than forecasted.....
Perhaps Nebraska, Maryland, and Northwestern have reason to be slightly more optimistic, but nothing truly surprising....
On the other hand, Oregon & Rutgers are probably in the top 3-4 of the most disappointing teams in all of college football to date.
I view Illinois, Washington & Minnesota as significant disappointments.
MSU & Purdue are in the "I thought you'd suck and you certainly do" category.
Iowa has another terrible QB. The worst in the BT. A dropoff there from the second half of last year. The rest of the team is about the same. So overall they are worse, although they do now have 1 good wideout now.
UCLA is as expected with a new coach. Imaleava is not as good as advertised....very mediocre.
I think OSU, IU, Michigan, PSU & USC are about as I expected. I always viewed OSU overrated at #1. Putting aside the rest of the game, it's telling that their D didn't have what it took to stop Texas on that final drive.....and they didn't put up much of a fight. I like our chances against them at home. There haven't been many occasions where they have come through in pressure-packed situations during the R. Day era, They generally lack the physical and mental toughness to prevail in those situations. And it's going to be a pressure-cooker in Columbus this year.
I thought USC might be a wildcard if their D was better than expected. It looks like it's not. PSU looks solid but without much upside.
I'm concerned that Whittingham might have enough cover to bench Underwood by the time we play them. If Carr is QBing when we play them it looks like a very difficult game, especially if we're undefeated going in.......

Rereading my post, I definitely missed on one point. Whoever is QBing Rutgers is going to be the worst starting QB in the BT.
I know Iowa-ISU is always a battle, but I was very surprised Iowa didn't take better care of ISU at home. Basically, a complete staff and player turnover and have to rely on a last minute FG.
i also find the Illinois situation to be interesting. They just do not appear to have a very talented roster. Seems like BB has plateaued there.

You can put whoever you want in the Cy Hawk game and it’ll end 16-13 on a last minute FG.
Illinois really downgraded at QB with Houser. That said, Duke is still solid. Well coached really good RB

It's a nice Friday slate of games, even if it is sacrilegious. Three games featuring top 25 teams:
No. 5 Miami at Wake 7:30pm ESPN
No. 22 Houston at No. 13 Texas Tech 8pm FOX
Portland State at No. 21 Oregon 10:30pm BTN.
Miami is a heavy favorite, but Friday nights can be weird, plus they are down a bunch of DBs.
The best game of the evening (outside of No. 2 IUMS vs. No. 16 Washington) is Houston at Texas Tech. Locals are outraged that this is interfering with Texas HS football, but it is a huge game for the CFP and Big XII races.
For you sickos out there, a 10:30 kick for Oregon. Let's see how they respond to the loss at Oklahoma State.

@mushroomgod I don't follow Michigan much, but why would having a freshman QB with limited experience make it a difficult game for us? I would welcome such a scenario.

He's still bad. Reminds me of Anthony Richardson. Great runner, great arm but inaccurate, and dumb as hell.
