Nebraska and Northwestern are now a combined 9-2 with those two losses being to Indiana.
Gonna predict that Nebraska wins at Oregon next Saturday.
@jj_mcclure Not a great first two weeks at all. Today could’ve been salvaged with an OSU win, but they choked it away. It was nearly worse but Iowa hung on.
Duke beating Illinois was a blow. Washington looked bad. Purdue lost in typical Purdue fashion. Oregon has Penn State vibes.
The most amazing aspect of the BT teams so far is that there does not appear to be one team that is significantly better than forecasted.....
Perhaps Nebraska, Maryland, and Northwestern have reason to be slightly more optimistic, but nothing truly surprising....
On the other hand, Oregon & Rutgers are probably in the top 3-4 of the most disappointing teams in all of college football to date.
I view Illinois, Washington & Minnesota as significant disappointments.
MSU & Purdue are in the "I thought you'd suck and you certainly do" category.
Iowa has another terrible QB. The worst in the BT. A dropoff there from the second half of last year. The rest of the team is about the same. So overall they are worse, although they do now have 1 good wideout now.
UCLA is as expected with a new coach. Imaleava is not as good as advertised....very mediocre.
I think OSU, IU, Michigan, PSU & USC are about as I expected. I always viewed OSU overrated at #1. Putting aside the rest of the game, it's telling that their D didn't have what it took to stop Texas on that final drive.....and they didn't put up much of a fight. I like our chances against them at home. There haven't been many occasions where they have come through in pressure-packed situations during the R. Day era, They generally lack the physical and mental toughness to prevail in those situations. And it's going to be a pressure-cooker in Columbus this year.
I thought USC might be a wildcard if their D was better than expected. It looks like it's not. PSU looks solid but without much upside.
I'm concerned that Whittingham might have enough cover to bench Underwood by the time we play them. If Carr is QBing when we play them it looks like a very difficult game, especially if we're undefeated going in.....
See the last paragraph......this situation with Underwood & Carr is what concerned me a month ago. Remember in '24 when Altmeyer killed us at Illinois......as I recall, it was similar in that he had played in but not started the game before....
I'm not saying Carr is a world-beater but I (and a lot of Michigan fans) knew then that Underwood sucked and Carr was a better option. Things just had to play out due to race, $$, and nepotism (Lloyd Carr's GS) issues.
It won't be as crazy as if we were undefeated, but Carr played enough last week to get some necessary experience and also awaken the Michigan fans. Unfortunate. We'll still win if we take care of business but another slow start would make things very dicey.
@mushroomgod Yeah, I was hoping they would make the change after they played IU

Not sure when you posted the comment that you were responding to today, but it looks like whenever it was, you maybe drew quite a few conclusions that haven't really been accurate. Maybe 50% accuracy, but otherwise some pretty hot takes.@jj_mcclure Not a great first two weeks at all. Today could’ve been salvaged with an OSU win, but they choked it away. With or without Underwood, Michigan's defense is good enough to make Saturday uncomfortable for the Hoosiers. Their defense should give us similar issues as OSU did, though probably not as good of a passing defense. It'll be incumbent on IU's offense to muster 21-24pts, because outside of something fluky, I don't think Michigan can score that many on our defense. But a tight, 21-13 or 20-17 game is certainly in play.

Thanks. Looks like about 80% to me. Not too bad two weeks in.
I agree we'll have to get about 21-24.....with Underwood playing 10 might have been enough.
Houston totally got homered against Utah.
Clear PI in the end zone to turn the ball over on downs under two minutes No Call…
There were other bad ones but that one sealed the W for the Utes…
Guess refs can be bought out west too 🤬
With the Wisconsin victory over USC last night, I think we can safely assume that a 10-2 record isn’t going to make the playoffs. We’re either 11-1 or we’re likely playing in the Pop Tart Bowl.

I get our SOS keeps taking a hit, but this doesn't appear to be the case.
We've got 80-85% odds to make the CFP. ~55% odds for 11 wins and ~80% for 10 wins. This is suggesting 10 wins and we're probably in. Of course, if that second loss is bad then we're going to be on the edge and could miss it.
At this point though, I'm just focused on if we can figure out anything offensively vs. Minny and after the bye.
@jj_mcclure you can't assume that. They still have to get 12 teams in and look around the rest of the sport

@thehoosierhuddle You’re not giving enough deference to SOS and the human element at play here Sammy. They’re gonna have the long knives out for us if we have two losses…
@jj_mcclure We'll see. IU's SOS is still higher than a lot of playoff contenders. Let me check when SP+ gets updated later

That does sound a little paranoid. Maybe 100 years of losing football is coloring your judgement here? That can happen. I think the committee will look favorably on IU being the defending champs. Also, don’t think they missed how well the Hoosier Nation follows this team.@thehoosierhuddle You’re not giving enough deference to SOS and the human element at play here Sammy. @walt542 According to FPI that was updated today. IU has is 5th in strength of record and 25th in SOS. It's higher than Georgia, Norte Dame and Miami.

Missing the playoffs at 10-2 to a 9-3 SEC team ain't happening.
I'm all for ramping up the style points to close the season.
@jj_mcclure Depends on the two losses. If IU wins their remaining regular season games and loses in the B1G Championship game, they're in. If they drop another regular season game, then it gets dicey. It's possible IU's best regular season win will be NW, and that's not all that impressive. USC will likely be unranked when they come to Bloomington, so that doesn't help matters.
