Washington and Michigan both seem way overhyped we should be able to beat both if we play better than on Saturday. Nebraska though is going to be very tough on the road.

I think Michigan will be a very difficult game.  Iowa had 0 offensive points through 3 quarters, and Michigan outgained them by something like 150-170 yds for the game.  Also, Underwood had possibly his best game and they have two very good WRs.  Nebraska could also be a problem.

Washington does appear to suck, and USC isn't going to take the great leap forward.

@mushroomgod @arioznahoosier4554

My fears with Washington was how bought in was Demond Williams and how would UW replace the NFL talent on offense. Williams doesn't look like he wants to be there and neither does his head coach. They have a chance to go into a tailspin.

USC can recover, but Riley is on the hot seat and maybe we have a Penn State situatiuon developing. Nebraska should be able to take care of Maryland at home and it'll be a tough game.

I'd rather play Nebraska twice than Michigan once.  Washington has huge injuries (and maybe other problems too).  USC could carve us up in terms of their passing game, but might not put up much resistance.  Their defensive stats, I believe, might be somewhat misleading.  A lot of their points/yards given up pre-Oregon were with 2/3 string defense in after the games were well in hand.

Although fans have no bearing on the outcome, I'd exercise caution in thinking any of those games will be 'easy'.

@gros-louis I know one thing: NB and NW got screwed by the schedule maker having to play each of IU, OSU, OR and Iowa. UCLA and PSU on the other hand.... I think we should add a P4 requirement or a 10th conference game and do away with the B10 Championship game. Not fair that some teams arbitrarily get stuck playing 3-4 of the top teams and some play none.

Hard for me to feel sorry for those former West division teams when we got stuck playing OSU, UM, PSU and MSU every year.

or, you could be Western Michigan and play UM both once and twice in the same game!

@thehoosierhuddle So, what do you think:

BUY: NW, NB, UCLA

SELL: UW, USC, MD, PU, UM, MSU, IL, Rutgers

HOLD: IU, OSU, PSU, WI, IA, MN, OR

Could be a segment on one of your podcasts or stories!

Several interesting discussion topics this week probably not worthy of their own threads, so here goes:

A.  Three college football celebrations made the news this week:

1.  Texas player simulates taking out his giant dong and taking a sweeping piss;

2.  Texas player simulates wiping and smelling his own balls and fainting; and

3.  Josh Hoover points at a NW player as he scores a TD.

Who is the worst offender?

B.  Which of the following coaches on the hot seat get fired first, which coach the whole year, and which gets fired last? (my guesses)

1.  Mike Norvell, FSU....He must have nude photos of the AD's wife to still be around.  At this point, he finishes the year.

2.  Barry Odom, Purdue....He lasts the year, and is the last one fired of the five

3.  Shane Beamer, S. Carolina....I think the first to go

4.  Lincoln Riley, USC....Don't think he lasts the year...fired with a game or two to go

5.  Mike Locksley, MD....Lasts the year, gets fired before Odom.

Related.....Luke Fickell gets a one year reprieve, never gets fired, but moves on to the NFL after next year

C.  How would Alberto have fared at IU this year?

--Hoover:  56/80; 70%; 11 TDs, 0 ints; 10.6 ypa; 15.2 ypc; PER--204.6

--Alberto:  84-123; 68.3%; 6 TDs; 3 ints; 7.9 ypa; 11.6 ypc, PER--146.1

Alberto is 1-3 at GT playing something of a tougher schedule--Colorado; Mercer; TENN; Stanford.  Last year in limited play his PER was 235.5.  Last year at TCU Hoover's PER was 153.4.  He had 29 passing TDs & 13 ints.....

Although I think Hoover's upside is higher, I also think Alberto through our first 4 games would probably have #s similar to Hoover's.  I think it's an illustration of how damn hard it is to play QB for really crappy teams.

What surprises me most about Alberto is that it doesn't appear that he's being used much as a runner at GT.  He's shown as having 19 rush attempts for minus 27 yards.  I assume most were sacks or TFLs.  The only game I saw of his was most of Colorado.....I don't remember seeing any called QB runs in what turned out to be a one-point game.

He wasn't a guy I would want as a P4 QB if you're not going to run any designed QB runs for him.

@mushroomgod At least Sark and the Texas AD addressed the stupid celebrations. It is embarrassing.

Locksely should be the one to go first but I don’t know their situation.

Alberto would have developed well here but is still a year away and Cig didn’t want to waste this team waiting.

Who knows how many years away? He wouldn't have played again this year. How could he have developed by 'putting it on the field' or 'putting it on tape'?

He might have done just fine if he was playing here this season, he's a junior by age. Seems like a junior shouldn't still be 'a year away', automatically. If they are, they are a backup talent. Or else we can't teach, which I doubt.

It would be great if coach showed developing a QB from scratch. Someday... I assume with Prock that is going to change. May have to start a guy like that a little earlier to help keep him.

But if Cig evaluates, and decides he needs to go grab a guy, I'm cool with that. He has the eye and the funds. Knows what he needs, and it's by far the most important position. Line play second.

Was glad to see Grant Wilson get some snaps. Looks serviceable if we need him. Hopefully Cherry is close too.
