@hoosier-clarion that’s true with ever number. College Football is a regular season sport. It has the BEST regular season.
They're going to fuck around and turn CFB into CBB, where the only thing that matters is making the playoff/tourney.
@unclemark Yep, they are. You have TV execs running things instead of sports people
Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle
But I read somewhere that ESPN is backing the SEC plan for a 16 team playoff rather than going to 24.@unclemark Yep, they are. You have TV execs running things instead of sports people
@walt542 ESPN is backing their own interests. They don’t want expansion because anything over 14 opens up the rest of the games to the open market

Sorry I'm late to the party. Feeling a bit stupid on my understanding of CFP expansion i.e., 16-24, etc.
Based on Petitti's comment regarding the "Selection Committee" and ESPN's influence on selection, I get the politics and the power play. Never heard it phrased that way before and it makes perfect sense.
The 24 team playoff breaks EPSN's hold on selection and SEC influence on playoffs. Other conferences on board too.
Decision not to support 24 isolates ESPN and SEC from rest of US. Very interesting and telling since the B1G ripped off the last three Naty's with three different teams.
As a guy in lower Alabama, I can confirm the sports fans in the South I associate with feel they don't need much info outside the South. An opinion cultivated by Disney and ESPN. Pretty brilliant marketing actually. I live in the bubble, and it works. Ex: Bama players quoted as saying they never thought Indiana would give them a game in the Rose based on the info they have been fed.
Have to actually use effort to find national information.
On to 24. Morning and Go Hoosiers!
@mobilehoosier To be fair the Rose Bowl wasn't much of a game...
I like the 12-team playoff, but I can read the tea leaves and unless Fox and ESPN just keep fighting it's going to expand. We'll see where it goes, but I don't trust anyone in charge to do anything for "the good of the sport".
