Sales is at OSU this weekend
@boogie Yep that's the new visit and pushed Texas back a week. It still sounds like it's between IU and Texas
LSU now following Ohio State in following who Indiana is after.
Don't blame them.
They know Cignetti is smarter than their slackjaws.
@thehoosierhuddle And, could be top 4, right? Isn't this Preston's last year also? It's funny because I felt like people had forgotten about Morris, but after his spring game performance, now I feel like folks are forgetting about Preston. We had 4 receivers last year who all put up good #s and I expect that again this year, if not 5-6. Super deep room this year, but with the potential losses, it opens the door wide for Sales.
I watched Preston pretty closely in the spring game warm-ups and the game itself, and was a little disappointed. Frankly, I could see why he didn't crack the rotation at Alabama. Not that he's bad.....I think he'll have a Miles Cross/EJ Williams level of impact. He's kind of a tallish route-runner type that Cig can maximize. But he doesn't have separation speed or much twichiness to his game. I think Marsh, Becker, and Morris will be the big 3.....don't sleep on Morris because he's an ideal slot guy for Cig.
I personally liked Chandler as a #4 guy over Preston, but Gig loves the experienced guys so I could see both being equally active. I know some people like Bond, but he's awfully small. If no one gets hurt I think he's the 6th most active wideout.
@openwheel They are going to make a VERY competitive offer to Sales.
Curious....have you watched his highlights? If so, what do you think of him?
To me, he looks like a Jeremiah Smith clone, except that he's 2" taller and somewhat thinner. He's listed at 6'5" 210 lbs while Smith is listed as 6'3" 225 lbs. Like Smith, he doesn't look like a great route runner. Smith is stronger, but Sales may catch up in that department by the time he's a freshman.
At times last year I wondered what Smith would look like with Cig as his H.C. I hope we get to see it, but like OpenWheel I think it's less than a 50% proposition. I think someone will make an offer that he can't refuse.

One other thing about the Jeremiah Smith comparison. One thing I've been impressed with regarding Smith is that he'a a gamer. a very good teammate and really wants to win, which is impressive given his status. Don't know anything about Sales, but if Cig is willing to engage in sone NIL warfare for him, he must like his character.
@thehoosierhuddle So did he end up not visiting Miami? Maybe subbed in LSU for them?
Went to bed last night to the news of Sales committing to Indiana but, alas, woke up this morning with no confirmation in sight. Wish I had paid more attention to the site reporting that bit of misinformation but I was literally turning out the light (albeit with a smile on my face). It was among articles on a news aggregator site, prolly Apple. ‘Nuff said.
@the-watson The SI editor accidentally put out an article that was meant to be a draft. Just in case. Then it got put in the aggregators.
@openwheel You don't think LSU staff has the acumen to offer the top rated 5* receiver out there? We're swimming with the big programs now, and it's going to be difficult to get these guys. It's a bit humbling to look at the 2027 top recruit rankings and see how far down the list even our top rated guys are. Jumping up and getting Sales would be incredible.
@kkott Sales visited LSU yesterday. I believe he moved his Texas visit to this weekend, although his 247 page says June 5th and Miami this weekend (I don’t think they updated his stuff yet).
@thehoosierhuddle Those dates I understood. I'm just asking if he did not visit Miami, or maybe bumped them with LSU?
@kkott I believe he bumped Miami for LSU. His page was updated to reflect a visit to LSU on 6/16 and the trip to Texas 6/19 and no reported visit to Miami.
