I know their boards seem to think it went well and I guess a bunch of his Bama family was there. When is his next trip?

He didn’t commit so that’s a good sign. He did post a picture from IU’s indoor yesterday or so. I think he heads to Texas this weekend. That’s the one to really watch.

I dont blame any of them. They can get good coaching surrounded by top talent in a dozen places.

May as well pick on the other factors that are very important to you only once you know who is near the top. Silly to just throw away a lot of money by not shopping.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I honestly think we wont get him. Well, maybe as good as 40-60 which is still nice odds.

We may lead in enough factors that Sales picks us. But I just think the philosophy of some other programs is, they are more willing to be the top dollar for freshman than Cignetti will be. I think Cigs approach is wise, he has plenty of funds to offer top dollar, but not silly with it to massively overpay. While I think one or two of those other programs might be. Hope I am wrong but some school may make an offer you cant refuse level of bid.

With the lower ranked kids that may take a few years to contribute, I’d agree.

But a guy who can immediately contribute with big upside… sounds like IU will be willing to pay up in this situation.

But how often can a freshman immediately contribute, no matter how high he's ranked? That's the question mark. It's not like they can play AAU ball in the summer against top competition.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather bring in HS players a develop them. But in today's environment you can only do so much of that and have to be smart with the money.

@unclemark Not often.  But the #1 ranked WR at 6’5” 210 is playing right away.

One would think so. Assuming our current WR room lets him.

@unclemark IU will probably lose all three of their starting WRs after this year.

In that case, Sales might have a good shot at it. I'm still leery of putting too much on an incoming freshman. I don't care about the rankings or ratings or whatever. An 18/19 year old playing on par with upperclassmen P4 competition is rare.

Again I hope I'm proven wrong. If I am, again I'll say something nice about @hooky.  <shudder>

I know I'm the little brother you wish you had and I hope I can live up to your expectations.

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.
