Sure, but they probably set their bid a lot higher once they saw that Coach was as high on him. ;D@openwheel You don't think LSU staff has the acumen to offer the top rated 5* receiver out there? ...
The ratings services Indiana bump for regular good players, and then the Cignetti effect 'million dollars bump' for top talent.
@openwheel I think that's a reasonable argument with the RB they got, but I feel like it's probably Texas setting the bar as far as Sales NIL value and IU, and now LSU, are the ones having to match it.
But, I think the main takeaway, is we're now starting to lock horns with the UM, OSU, UT, LSU and Miami's of the world in recruiting battles. Totally different stratosphere.
The Sales recruitment sounds like it'll come down to the best NIL offer. Just from talking to different people.
@thehoosierhuddle Damn man, I hate that news. It sure would be refreshing for a top local dog like Sales to say "I'm a Hoosier thru and thru regardless of the $$." Probably a novel approach too.
I'd love to see Cig and company have the talents of a 5-star WR to play around with. I think it'd be a thing of beauty. But if he's hell-bent on the biggest payday, I'd guess Cig will say "see you" before long.
Dang. I was hoping he cared about the which staff could best position him for the NFL. We would have a shot in that case.
We probably could be high bid he just sounds like less of a fit if that’s his main criteria.
Oh well. We’ll see what he does.
@bucketgetter As I have eluded to on here a couple of times, IU's offer should be very competitive. It's just the way the sport is now. There may be other factors in there as well, but it does seem like NIL is the biggest.

Later, dude.

@unclemark IU needs to win this recruitment. It’d be huge. He’s likely to earn a starting spot as a freshman and would do wonders for program PR as well.

Yeah yeah yeah.
No one kid is going to make or break the program, and if he's not a good fit ($$$ #1 type) then we should move on.
Then again, I'm just poor white trailer trash.
