The longer it drags out, I think the worse for IU. If he wanted to be a Hoosier, I think he'd accept their offer and commit. I just think he's milking it for the most $$ and Texas will end up with deeper pockets. But, if he's looking "big picture" I think IU is the better opportunity with the amount of PT we should have at receiver next year and the development we've done. Not to mention the notoriety he'd have by becoming the first 5 star recruit to commit to IU. If you look at how far Sarratt and Cooper progressed, all the way from no star and 3 star to the NFL, that should be powerful incentive for any player with NFL aspirations.

@kkott The rumors I have heard, some pretty reliable, but still rumors is that he is looking for a bigger outlet to make the announcement. I thought that would be the Rivals Signing Day special on July 1st (was just a speculative guess) so, he may be waiting for that. Still feel like IU is in really good shape. If I hear anything else, I'll update.

His agent is setting the strategy.

Without seeing his contract with his agent, it's impossible to gauge the ying and yang of the process they scoped out.

Maybe.

But I can’t really knock someone for promoting themselves when that’s part of being a pro athlete.  It leads to off the field opportunities.

And it’s also more publicity for whatever school he selects.

At this point this doesn’t seem abnormal.

I would love to have Sales at Indiana. I’m not going to lose sleep if it doesn’t happen. Cig will find another excellent player to take his spot.

@kelly_32 Yea, at the end of the day we’ll get some WR for $1.5M or whatever Sales will cost.  Would be fun to get him, but there are plenty of WRs out there.

If he shows up in gold shoes we're toast.

He's not just going to announce, so we're gonna know when it is ahead of time.

@boogie Yep. Which is why we didn’t put out a primer like another site and give a definitive date.

It's possible that it's currently silent and  both sides agreed they want the big recruiting headline to drop going into the B1G media day.

Plus you have the true NIL aspects of it to work out, which can take time to get 6 and 7 figure contracts signed, sealed, and delivered.

I got another 5 bucks to spare. If it helps I'll send it. I'm all in!

Fair point about the agents' involvement. It's tough for us old fossils to know how to feel about this new mercenary environment. I still yearn for the days when playing for your home state school -- even Purdue -- meant something above and beyond the immediate payoff. Now get off my lawn.

@unclemark We’re like five years into this NIL thing.  It’s not really new anymore!

I get your perspective.  I wonder if we overly romanticize the pre-NIL era.  To some extent it was more about the school, but players were still worried about their personal careers and in many instances were still getting paid under the table.

Just a thought… I don’t know the answer.
