I'll be enjoying the hoisting of an early cocktail myself tomorrow.
@hoosier-clarion lucky dog. I’ll be at work hoisting a bottle of water.
I'll be bummed that Texas is offering a bag more than Cig.
(Just setting it up to exceed my expectations!)
@d-b-cooper They say the way it had no smell and looked like water was the reason vodka's popularity took off as a workplace drink. Just sayin'...
@hurryinghoosiers if i had a crystal ball, it would have been on iu weeks ago as we said on the podcast...iu doesn't mess around if they want a recruit and i think they'd find the money for a player like this.
As they say…ladies and gentlemen. We got him. Sales ➡️IU.
Sounds promising but I'll count my chickens once they hatch.
Saw an article on another site about the possibility of landing Sales and saying how it would change everything. yes, it would be another first for the program (getting a 5 star recruit) but not sure it is the catalyst to opening the floodgates in HS recruiting or anything. Continuing to win and being competitive in NIL may get us into being a finalist for more 5 stars in the future but that would be the case with or without Sales.
I remember when a big deal was made when we got Finch or when we got Dasan McCullough and how that was going to lead to big things. Both didn't do much at all on the field at IU (or anywhere ) and didn't appear to give us a bump in recruiting. Then all the supposed package deals over the years with basketball only for most to never materialize...other than maybe Bracey Wright and Marshall Strickland.
Anyway, will be happy to get Sales and the publicity it will create for the program.
I think sending guys to the league will do more for recruiting than anything else, up to and including top money.
Good start this year with eight drafted. If a few camp invitees catch on, even better.
@hurryinghoosiers which site was that?
I do think it really changes the perception of IU in the HS recruiting world. How many times has IU lost top instate talent?
Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle

Like Cig said in one of his early pressers when hired. You can absolutely load up on 4 star guys. He says there's a bunch of them available every year and questioned why, if the rating services were good, those guys were still available. And that was the ex JMU head coach knowing that. We all understood his meaning that not all 4 stars, are 4 stars.

Hoosier State of Mind website
IU has lost the top recruits quite often unfortunately due to struggles on the field and lack of support (not issues anymore). That will likely change regardless of Sales committing or not depending on whether or not Cigs decides to spend NIL on them.
We can assume cigs will be more likely to spend big NIL on positions that tend to allow freshman to be difference making starters. So more likely to see 5 star WRs, RBs or DBs vs lineman that would be unlikely to be plug n play (until older). QB possibly due to importance but a position that likely won't see a freshman starter
@hurryinghoosiers I agree with you. I think it just proves that it’s coming to
fruition

@hoosier-clarion F-k it. Can’t wait on the announcement, and why would I when the drinks can flow freely tonight?
Was already pumped for the Starship launch, but since it got scrubbed … why waste a buzz? Just house-sitting in Dallas while my son vacays in Cancun. God, I love retirement!
Fell pretty good about this announcement. No inside knowledge. just makes no sense to announce on McAfee if going to Texas or other than IU.
