@iugradman I would move on from Brewster if I was the staff. He has flirted and danced with a dozen programs after being verbally committed to TTU. Why would you ever pay huge dollars for someone who may play one year and then leave?
It's a new era of recruiting and so many are treating it like it's 1998.
Until the one free transfer rule is in place, overpaying for HS recruits is bad business.
Might be a bit harsh. It's not like Brewster kept it a secret that his commitment to TTU is not on solid ground after the position coach was fired. Not sure I quite understand why he doesn't just decommit though unless TTU was fine keeping him verballed while he determines what he wants to do.
I wouldn't be shocked if we lose out to the highest bidder on the 4 and 5 stars. After we lost Caleb Johnson to MSU and Oglesby to Kansas, nothing is a given when money is on the table.

We didn't lose Oglesby because of money. We lost him because of our depth chart. The staff really wanted him.
@hurryinghoosiers Personally, I think losing Oglesby was about more than money, or anything lacking in IU's offer. I think he looked at our young TE depth and didn't see any PT for him for awhile possibly. Think we have 5 TE's that are Fr or redshirt Fr. Still surprised we didn't get an experienced TE in the portal, but I also believe that shows the confidence the coaches have in these guys and that they feel there are starter and backup caliber guys in that room already.
With the portal, making a decision based on the current depth chart is almost meaningless if trying to figure out where you fit in 2+ years from now.
You have that right!@walt542 One thing I'm confident of: you and I (and others) can guess at their recruiting strategy, but this staff isn't guessing, they know what they are looking for! They know what they are looking for and a big chunk of that, I believe, is always going to be high character guys.
Is Mayfield deciding today? Any word on him?
@thehoosierhuddle If I had just woke up from a 2 year coma, I'd swear I died and ended up in Heaven. Since when does IU Football win a National Championship, then turn around a beat all the big boys for linebackers? It just doesn't seem possible, but we are seeing it right before our eyes.
Inching on up the team rankings, On3 has IU at #28 with today's Mayfield commitment.

They’re still recruiting Oglesby, and the message has been that position groups often change radically in the offseason. What looks imposing today may be much less so after the season ends. We’ll see if they can turn him around.
Mayfield!
Boom!
Good get. Will be awesome to watch him develop.

We just had a tight end on a midweek official that i think if they push for, would have a very good chance of getting.
If they get him, they'd be done at TE. Still up in the air what they're going to do though.
