As has been rumored for a bit...4-star DB Monsanna Torbert has decommitted from IU.
Chasing a bigger bag? Because he isn’t going to find a better coaching staff to play for.
@iugradman Had he been offered by Ohio State when he committed? If not, it might just be that, since he is from Ohio.
@bucketgetter I don't want to spoil his moment, but stay around at 6pm
This makes me think you had a firm heads-up but were committed to secrecy. I can respect that.
OTOH, I'm sick of these kids making their commitments into a big production number.
Now get off my lawn.

So it’s a Lawrence Timmons type situation. IU identifies a talented player before Ohio State, the player commits, then Ohio State sees how good the player is and swoops in and steals them.
It was mentioned last year that Ohio State looks at who Cignetti is recruiting.

Smart strategy on their part.
Without wanting to sound like the idiots on the bball board, if he'd rather play for OSU than IU, then good riddance.
@unclemark I had it 100% confirmed this morning.
Makes it easier to have your committment story written up and ready to post, doesn't it?

Ha. I am okay with the commitment ones. But the big portal announcement graphics get old — usually three to four paragraphs pretending it’s not about getting a better gig/payday. Which is cool, but the whole thank the fans, talk to fam, pray, decided to enter portal… yea yea yea…
Very happy about Sharpe. Now get the guy he’ll line up opposite to. My guess is they know each other very well by now. Would be an awesome storyline to follow.
and @thehoosierhuddle, nice job of protecting the guy who trusted you. We need more of this in modern journalism. Professionalism, and stuff.
@bucketgetter thanks. I don’t care about being first if it means stealing a moment or breaking someone’s trust

This is a decommit Im actually bummed about, I liked his tape and he had measurables similar to Ponds. Only reason Im not that bothered by it, is because we just got Rico. Rico's tape is phenomenal. Considering it was junior year HS tape, he was already playing the position like a redshirt soph collegiate player. Dont be shocked if Rico ends this cycle as a borderline "Rivals 300" or ESPN's iteration type player
Hopefully we have a big July commit wave. I am happy to pound my chest as a Hoosier and say we will go 16-0 again this year, but our long term roster building is hinging on us landing a bunch of the late commits relative to other top 15 programs. Not trying to be a negative nancy on this beautiful team of ours but please get some 6'2+ receivers (Monshun would do) and 3-4 more OL commits. DL wise we probably need 2-3 in this class, probably 2-3 more DBs, a LB, and a RB. I dont think any other position is really "necessary" roster building wise this cycle

I dont think bball is a apples to apples with football. While it sucks we arent landing all of these talented HS prospects, the reality is if we were signing them we wouldnt be seeing the great portal classes we get. Its give and take. For all the shit people talk about us "buying a championship", we are no Texas A&M buying half a dozen+ 5* recruits on top of portal additions. Or TTU, or Oregon, or OSU and so on. Our team has a solid budget and Cig seems to prefer spending on proven production, and hes earned that trust.
It sucks to see guys flip, but if its because of money... They would have flipped next year or the year after anyways. We dont need that attitude in our locker room
Feel comfortable the Bucks are chasing Cignetti vs the other way around.
