Ah, yes. AT was so much fun to watch, at least in highlights. He came along a coupla years after I graduated, and I had moved to Houston by then.

I was able to see Andre Ward a lot living in Houston, and though biased, really thought AT shoulda won the Heisman. Ward was more a product of the Run n Shoot offense than a bona fide Heisman contender, IMHO. AT was robbed!

AT was robbed. By Bo Schembechler and Lee Corso.

Corso's constant ANDRE WARE! ANDRE WARE! on a major network ... Corso said stats alone told everything we needed to know. But I don't recall Corso stumping hard for David Klingler who beat those numbers, the very next season.

Then Bo saying Thompson's stats were by running it up against the weaker opposition. That Bo wanted a guy who could get the numbers in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. (Saw a national publication writer respond 'Fair enough Bo, but if Thompson was running behind your Michigan offensive line, he'd have wrapped up the Heisman in October.)

#### Corso and Schembechler. On that one issue... Corso is a decent guy who did a lot of good for people, so, there is that, lol. And Bo said 'A Michigan Man will coach Michigan.' When Frieder thought he could quit but still stay through the tournament. And I loved that. But they both pissed me off with AT .. He'd have won it, they stopped it... I didn't like Corso as our coach either, to me his tenure epitomizes IU not giving a rats rear about football, it was so bad.

Only one player wins it. On paper it seemed OK. Few could watch Ware since they weren't on TV. Oh well. Also, if AT scores or maybe if fights harder at the end of his long run against Purdue, he probably wins it. Or if we make the field goal. He ran out of bounds when finally caught, but seemed OK, because the FG was so short from there it was a sure thing. But we missed, we lost... Win that game and AT wins the Heisman for setting it up with the long run.

@thehoosierhuddle Curious Sammy how you see the RB room breaking down. Did I read the article right, you think Martin will get to 1,000 yards? I know we had 2 guys get there last year and Martin still garnered 500 yards, but it feels like Turbo's going to get the most carries, at least to start the season. Martin looks great and I think is bigger than Richard, but Richard seems shiftier and also has proven to have good hands. With Hoover being a bit smaller than Mendoza, I'm thinking he'll look to dump the ball off to RBs more and let them gain the scramble yards Mendoza had last year. Hope they can all stay healthy!
