Where Former Hoosiers Landed in Undrafted Free Agency

Indiana University’s streak of having at least one player selected in the NFL Draft came to end over the weekend. However, several former Hoosiers will have a chance to get on an NFL roster after being picked up as undrafted free agents.

Shaun Shivers, a running back that played one season for Indiana after spending the first portion of his career at Auburn, is headed to the Seattle Seahawks.

Tiawan Mullen, a former Freshman All-American and defensive back for the Hoosiers, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Devon “Monster” Matthews is headed to the Mile High City and will try and make the Denver Broncos. Another member of IU’s 2022 secondary, cornerback Jaylin Williams, will be joining the Minnesota Vikings. Two former linemen joined on with NFL squads after the squad as defensive lineman

DeMarcus Elliott signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and offensive lineman Luke Haggard signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Perhaps the biggest surprise to not be drafted was former IU linebacker Cam Jones. Without his season ending injury, he likely would have played his way into a selection but Jones will now need to fight his way onto the roster for the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL teams are allowed to hold a rookie development program for a period of up to seven weeks. Rookies will report to camp beginning on May 15. This comes after a rookie minicamp which occurs on either the first or second weekend following the NFL Draft.
