Indiana head football coach Tom Allen announces that quarterback Michael Penix will be a “game day decision” for Indiana’s matchup against the sixth ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Allen told reporters that Penix is “working through some things right now” and the he’s not “going to give you specifics, but it’s not a long-term thing we don’t think. We’re working through it and trying to get it rehabbed. I guess we’ll know more.”

Penix started Indiana’s first two games after winning the starting quarterback job out of Fall Camp. In those two starts the redshirt freshman has completed 63.3-percent of his passes (38-60) for 523 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

If Penix cannot play Saturday, Allen has all the confidence in the world in Peyton Ramsey to rise to the occasion.

This “is why you have two quarterbacks,” Allen explained. “I feel great about Peyton. He’s won a lot of games for us here and he’s a great player.”

Ramsey has played in 22 games during his tenure at IU. Last season, he started all 12 games while completing 66-percent of his passes for 2,875 yards and 19 touchdowns. Ramsey has played in one game this season and went 13-of-14 for 226 yards with two touchdowns.
