BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana senior linebacker Micah McFadden and junior cornerback Tiawan Mullen have been selected to Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, the Football Writers Association of America announced on Tuesday morning. This marks the third watch list appearance for both McFadden (Bednarik, Butkus) and Mullen (Bednarik, Thorpe).

Indiana Cornerback Tiawan Mullen Makes History with FWAA All-American Selection

History was made in Bloomington on Wednesday afternoon as sophomore cornerback Tiawan Mullen was selected as a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Mullen was left off the AP All-American team earlier this week after an outstanding season. Mullen is the first ever cornerback at Indiana to be selected a first-team All-American. He joins wide receiver Ty Fryfogle (3rd Team AP) and linebacker Micah McFadden (3rd Team AP) as IU players who earned All-American honors this year. Mullen is the 54th different Hoosier to earn All-American honors and the 60th time a Hoosier has been named an All-American.

Tom Allen found himself another Florida defensive player in Tiawan Mullen. Mullen held over 20 offers, but the main competitors were Nebraska and Pittsburgh. Off the field, he has proven to be one of the more vocal members of the 2019 class on Twitter, constantly recruiting fellow players to join him. On the field, he has a nose for the ball and has good hands for a safety-built cornerback. He was invited to play in the US Army All-American Bowl, just like his older brother, Clemson cornerback Trayvon Mullen.
