History was made in Bloomington on Wednesday afternoon as sophomore cornerback Tiawan Mullen was selected as a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Mullen was left off the AP All-American team earlier this week after an outstanding season. Mullen is the first ever cornerback at Indiana to be selected a first-team All-American. He joins wide receiver Ty Fryfogle (3rd Team AP) and linebacker Micah McFadden (3rd Team AP) as IU players who earned All-American honors this year. Mullen is the 54th different Hoosier to earn All-American honors and the 60th time a Hoosier has been named an All-American.

Mullen had a fantastic 2020 season after a break out freshman campaign in 2019. Mullen was the Hoosiers second leading tackler with 36 (25 solo) stops, he also made a huge impact behind the line of scrimmage with 3.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. After not having an interception as a freshman, Mullen made three interceptions and forced a fumble.

Mullen and the Hoosiers finish up their 2020 season in the Outback Bowl against Ole Miss on January 2nd at 12:30pm ET and airing on ABC.
