IU WR J-Shun Harris Suffers ACL Injury, Likely Out For 2016 Season

The Indiana Hoosiers held their first scrimmage on Saturday in preparation for the September 1 season opener at Florida International. Kevin Wilson believes the scrimmage went very well but, unfortunately, the Hoosiers did not come out of unscathed as redshirt sophomore wide receiver J-Shun Harris suffered an ACL injury that will likely keep him sidelined for the second season in a row. Harris, a native of Fishers, Indiana, played his freshman season in 2014 but suffered an ACL injury during spring practice in 2015. As a result, he redshirted last season and was expected to return for the 2016 campaign. He was reportedly playing very well and looking like his old self before crumpling to the turf on Saturday.

"He's been unbelievably good," Wilson said on Monday. "It's harder for the medical guys and as coaches, because he's a great kid and he's worked hard."

Mitchell Paige is the starting slot receiver for the Hoosiers but Harris was expected to factor in as a large part of the passing attack. His injury opens the door for increased opportunities for  guys like redshirt freshman Isaac James, Ricky Brookins and perhaps even true freshman Kiante Enis to excel in the slot. The Hoosiers are still loaded at wide receiver but it's always difficult to have a young man be forced to deal with a second major injury in a short amount of time.
