Indiana Announce Home-and-Home Series with FIU in 2017 and 2018

The Indiana Hoosiers begin a series with the Florida International Golden Panthers on September 12 in Bloomington. That game was expected to be the first of two between the two schools (with IU traveling to FIU in 2016). However, Indiana has announced that the series will continue into 2017 and 2018 with an additional “home-and-home” tacked on to the original agreement.

Florida International, a member of Conference USA located in Miami, is coached by Ron Turner and is coming off of a 4-8 season. The Hoosiers will host FIU on September 16, 2017 (with Virginia and UMass already scheduled, the 2017 non-conference schedule is complete) and will travel to Miami to open the 2018 season and conclude the series on September 1, 2018 (Ball State and Virginia are the other two non-conference opponents in 2018).

The financial details of this scheduling agreement are not known but the series certainly offers IU a recruiting opportunity by playing a game every other year in the talent-rich state of Florida. The Hoosiers coaching staff has secured several players from the Sunshine State and they are surely hoping to continue to cultivate that pipeline.
