Indiana Athletics Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head football coach Tom Allen announced Thursday that defensive tackle Demarcus Elliott, a 6-3, 325-pound transfer from Garden City Community College (Kan.), has signed his Big Ten tender of financial aid and will be eligible for the 2019 season. Elliott has three years of eligibility remaining after playing in 10 games as a true freshman in 2018.

"We are really excited about Demarcus joining our program," Allen said. "He brings us the size and mass we need along our defensive line. Demarcus has a high motor and is a high character young man that is going to do the little things that we need to help make our program special."

Elliott helped Garden City reach the 2018 National Junior College Athletic Association national championship game. He closed out the campaign with 19 tackles, 4.5 for loss, and one sack.

A graduate of Garden City High School, Elliott claimed all-state honors as a senior. He posted 81 stops, 18.5 for loss, with 3.5 sacks and one interception.

Elliott collected double-digit tackles in three games, including a career-high 14 in the second round of the 2017 state playoffs.
