Hoosiers Land Local Star Running Back Kristian Pechac

It's nice when you don't have to travel far to grab a four-star talent. In fact, Indiana didn't even have to leave the city limits of Bloomington to land one of the best running backs in the Midwest as Bloomington South H.S. product Kristian Pechac decided to stay home and play for the local Big Ten team. Pechac is rated a four-star prospect and the number three running back in the Midwest by Scout.com.

He is a 6-foot 204-pound back who has been clocked at 4.59 in the 40-yard dash. Pechac has had a tremendous career so far for the Panthers as he ran for 2,030 yards and 28 touchdowns on 266 carries as a junior following a splendid sophomore campaign where he rushed for 1,059 yards and 15 scores on 189 carries.

Pechac made his announcement on Saturday evening via Twitter, saying "today I ended my recruiting process by officially committing to Indiana University. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me through every stage of my life and football. #breakthrough #IU22 Rest in Peace Abou."

His commitment is big for Indiana on multiple levels. First, the Hoosiers are getting a quality running back who could be an impact player in 2018 and beyond. Secondly, IU is keeping a local star at home. This should help garner more local interest in the Hoosier Football team.

Pechac's father, Mike, is the Director of Player Development for IU Football. The younger Pechac holds 14 total offers including Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh. He is the fourth commitment in the Hoosiers' 2018 class. His commitment rockets IU from 52nd to 38th nationally. You can view his HUDL tape here
