The Indiana Hoosiers picked up a commitment from three-star safety Travon West out of Wren High School in Piedmont, South Carolina. West is listed at six-foot and 170 pounds. He chose the Hoosiers over offers from Power Five schools Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia. He had 13 total offers.
West made an official visit to IU on June 24th and made his announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
West played both ways in high school at running back and safety, he also returned kicks. He will likely play safety at IU. He possesses good speed and has the ability to come down to the line of scrimmage and make plays at or near the line of scrimmage. Fans can watch his HUDL highlights HERE.
West was being recruited to IU by cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby. It originally was thought West would make a decision on his future later in the summer, but his official visit to IU went well. West is IU’s second commitment this month and fifth overall in the 2023 class.
