The Indiana Hoosiers needed safety help as head coach Curt Cignetti tries to rebuild the 2024 football roster. On Thursday evening, Cignetti and his staff landed former Old Dominion safety Shawn Asbury II from the transfer portal.

Asbury started his college career at Boston College, before transferring to ODU. He played in seven games for the Eagles with five tackles and two pass breakups. Asbury II found his success with the Monarchs. In his two seasons with ODU Asbury played in 22 games with 15 starts. Last season, he earned All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention by making 93 tackles, six tackles for loss and an interception.

Asbury looks to compete for major playing time at IU. He was listed on ODU’s last roster at 5’9” and 192 pounds.
