Hoosiers Get Land 19th Member of Their 2017 Recruiting Class in "Whop" Philyor

The Hoosiers have landed De'Angelo "Whop" Philyor from Plant High School in Florida. Philyor is a six-foot wide receiver who has been rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite rankings. He choose Indiana over nine other offers including Arizona, Iowa State, and Louisville.

In his statement posted on Twitter Philyor said, "First I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to (play) this great sport called football and blessing with the talents he's giving me. Also I would like (to) thank my family for supporting every step of my life. Now I want to thank all the college coaches who has recruited me in this long process, its been a great experience. I would like to thank all my friends that (have) come into my life! TRUU BLESSINGS RT. With that being said I am now committed to INDIANA UNIVERSITY! #HoosierArmy'17".

Philyor, a high school teammate of IU linebacker Thomas Allen, was on campus last weekend for his official visit. He's a dynamic playmaker on offense as he caught 91 passes for 1,282 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also had an impact on the ground with 201 yards and two more touchdowns. He recorded 38 tackles and had 20 passes defensed on the other side of the ball. According to his HUDL page he runs a sub-4.4 40-yard dash.

He is the 19th member of the Hoosiers' 2017 recruiting class. IU is currently ranked 60th nationally (up from 62nd) and 13th in the Big Ten. His primary recruiter was head coach Tom Allen.
