According to multiple reports, but first reported by 247 Sports' Steve Wiltfong, the Hoosiers landed athlete Juwan Burgess. Burgess is the third IU commit to come out of Plant High School in Tampa this cycle, along with Thomas Allen and Whop Philyor. Burgess is rated at a three-star athlete by 247Sports' Composite ranking and is the 25th best "athlete" in the 2017 class. Burgess, six-foot and 185-pounds, played wide receiver and safety in high school. Burgess has the ability to be a good outside receiver with the ability to go across the middle. Last fall he caught 14 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns and made 63 stops and three interceptions on defense. Burgess can also be a game-breaker on special teams as he returns punts as well. He holds 23 offers including Indiana and is still listed as visiting Florida this weekend. Burgess had committed to USC back in August.
Burgess made his announcement official on Twitter as well saying:
I would like to start off by thanking God for blessing me with the opportunities to make it up to this point in my life. I also would like to thank my Family & Friends for all the love and support to come up with this decision. After (sitting) down and talking to my family I have decided to announce that I will be switching my commitment from University of Southern California to Indiana University. #HoosierArmy'17
Burgess had just made his official to Indiana last weekend. IU now has 20 commitments in their 2017 class and jumps their class to 56th in the nation (up from 60th) and 13th in the Big Ten.
