A crazy day for Indiana football fans gets even better as the Hoosiers landed their third commitment of the day from three-star Ohio tight end A.J. Barner. Barner, a one-time Ohio University commitment, chose the Hoosiers over offers from Michigan State and seven other schools.
Barner is a six-foot-five tight end out of Aurora High School in Aurora, Ohio. He was in Bloomington for an official visit this past weekend. He played both ways his senior season and played well enough to be named the Northeast Ohio Division 3 Defensive Player of the Year as a linebacker. However, he will be coming to Indiana as a tight end. Barner has terrific athleticism and reminds some of Nick Mangeri and could be a tight end like Peyton Hendershot.
Barner made his announcement of Twitter Sunday night saying:
“To start, I would like to thank God for the position he has put me in as a person as well as football player. Secondly, I would like to thank my family for their continuous support along every step of my recruiting journey. Thank you to the whole community of Aurora for making these past years truly unforgettable. Also. thank you to the who Ohio University football staff for the opportunity they blessed me with. With that being said, I will be attending INDIANA UNIVERSITY to pursue both my academic and athletic careers. #LEO”
The Hoosiers 2020 class is now at 18 commitments and ranks 47th in the nation and 11th in the Big Ten.
