Hoosiers Beef Up Defensive Line with Portal Commitment from Former WKU DL Hosea Wheeler

The Indiana Hoosiers added bulk to their defensive line for the 2025 season with the commitment of 300-pound defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler, a transfer from Western Kentucky university. The former Hilltopper played in 30 games at WKU and earned First Team All-Conference USA honors for his play in 2024 as he recorded 74 tackles (five TFLs), two sacks and two blocked kicks.
Wheeler is originally from Elk Grove, California. He began his collegiate career at Sacramento before transferring to Western Kentucky in 2022 and redshirting. He started 11 games in 2023 and then took off this past season, starting every game and racking up impressive numbers. Wheeler was a popular player in the portal and made visits to Wisconsin and Texas A&M before committing to the Indiana Hoosiers.
He resembles current defensive tackle CJ West and should be an immediate factor for Pat Kuntz’s defensive line in 2025. IU now have commitments from a punter, kickoff specialist, cornerback and this mammoth defensive lineman but they are far from done in the portal. Hoosier Huddle will have ongoing portal and College Football Playoff coverage.
