Hoosiers Add to 2025 Class with In-State Tight End Andrew Barker

The Indiana Hoosiers offered Kokomo tight end Andrew Barker on June 15. It did not take long after that for Barker to decide exactly where he wanted to play collegiate football. The 6’4” tight end committed to head coach Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers less than a week after the offer.

Andrew Barker worked out at a team camp over the weekend and loved what he saw from the Hoosiers’ new staff. “The IU staff was very efficient in what they did. They had a schedule they needed to follow and they made sure it happened,” Barker told 247Sports.

The big tight end is an academic standout that has thus far drawn offer from prestigious academic schools like Dartmouth, Penn, Navy and Army. His play and development on the field is getting noticed too and the Marshall Thundering Herd offered him on June 10. He earned First Team All-State honors in 2023 after catching 23 passes for 324 yards. That is an average of more than 14 yards per catch, a remarkable number for a tight end. Barker chose to stay in-state because of what he saw from Curt Cignetti.

“I like the fact that Coach Cignetti doesn’t just focus on the football aspect of things. He holds his players to a higher standard in the class room as well which I feel is very important for a program that’s being rebuilt,” Barker said after IU’s team camp.

Andrew Barker will be on his official visit to Indiana from June 21 to June 23 after his pledge increased IU’s 2025 class to a dozen members. The three-star prospect is the second tight end in the class, joining Wisconsin tight end Blake Thiry.

Hoosier Huddle will have continuing coverage of the summer recruiting season as the Hoosiers build the first full class under Curt Cignetti’s staff.
