We are just three days away from the start of the 2020 Indiana football season. The Hoosiers are scheduled to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, October 24th at 3:30pm (FS1). Today we highlight two players who come into the year with sky-high expectations, corner back Tiawan Mullen and wide receiver Ty Fryfogle.
Name – Ty Fryfogle
Position – WR (Senior)
Hometown –Lucedale, Mississippi (George County)
Height – 6’2”
Weight – 214
Fryfogle enters his senior season as part of a dynamic 1-2 punch with Whop Philyor. In 2019, Fryfogle was Indiana’s third leading receiver with 45 catches for 604 yards and three touchdowns. The Mississippian needs just two yards to become the 47th Hoosier receiver to reach the 1,000-yard milestone.
For his career, Fryfogle has played in 33 games and caught 75 passes for 998 yards and six touchdowns. He became a focrce last season and has developed a knack for making the catch in traffic.
Indiana wide receiver coach Grant Heard praised Fryfogle for his work this offseason. “He is exactly where he needs to be” Heard said. “He worked his butt off in the offseason. Even though he was not here, down in Mississippi they did not really think [COVID-19] was real, so he was out there working out. He got his work in. Every day I talked with him and he was at home, he was outside working out. He is exactly where I need him to be and I expect big things out of him this year.”
Fellow wide receiver Whop Philyor was also singing he praises of his peers. “Fry and Miles (Marshall) have been here just as long as I have been. They already know how it is going. Mainly, we have to get the younger guys right. Those two have played in big games and made plays in big games. It is just the young guys, we have to bring them along. We are going to need them. The Big Ten is a rough league. People go down. It is mainly the young guys that we are developing, getting them right and getting them ready to go.”
