Countdown to Kickoff: 97 Days (Dan Godsil)

There are now 97 days remaining until the Indiana Hoosiers kick-off the 2016 season in Miami against the Florida International Golden Panthers. Join us each day for each part of our 100-day countdown to the opener! The current IU player donning the number 97 is long snapper, sophomore Dan Godsil.

Dan Godsil

-Height: 6’4”
-Weight: 210 pounds
-Hometown: Ottawa, Ohio
-Position: Long Snapper

Dan Godsil came to Indiana from Ottawa, Ohio with big shoes to fill while replacing standout long snapper Matt Dooley. As a true freshman, Godsil appeared in all 13 games as the Hoosiers’ long snapper on punts. He posted seven tackles on the year and was named special teams player of the week against Penn State when he had three tackles.

The Hoosiers will likely go with two long snappers again, and Godsil will have to become more consistent on his snaps, but after a tremendous freshman season, he should be able to back it up with a stronger sophomore campaign.
