/Hoosier Huddle Countdown - #94
Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The 2020 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is underway! We will double dip on Day 94 as two established Hoosiers don the number. First up is Demarcus Elliott a junior college transfer who came into Bloomington and made an immediate impact for the Hoosiers in 2019.
Name – Demarcus Elliott
Position – Defensive Line
Year/Hometown – Junior from Garden City, Kansas
Height – 6’3”
Weight – 311 pounds
Elliott arrived at IU by way of Garden City Community College. The expectations for him were to help build depth along the defensive line and hopefully grow into a productive player.
Elliot will be a junior in 2020 and is coming off a very impactful 2019 season. He played in all 13 games, including 12 starts, at defensive tackle for the Hoosiers. He registered 35 total tackles and his 27 solo tackles ranked first among the defensive line. He registered three sacks and five tackles for loss while forcing a fumble.
Elliott will be the starter at the nose tackle position next to Jerome Johnson and will be under the tutelage of defensive line coach Kevin Peoples who replaced Mark Hagen in the off-season. The expectations for Elliott should be high as he had a productive sophomore season for IU. He will need to be more active behind the line of scrimmage for the Hoosiers to continue to improve on the defensive side of the ball and could be pushed by sophomore Sio Nofoagatoto'a who had a career-high in tackles in the Tax Slayer Gator Bowl.
