Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 55 Days Part I (CJ Person)

We are 55 days away the Hoosiers storming the field at Camp Randall Stadium. Today we profile redshirt freshman defensive lineman C.J. Person. Even with the news on Thursday that the Big Ten will play conference games only, we are proceeding until the schedule officially changes.
Name - C.J. Person
Position - Defensive Lineman
Year/Hometown - Redshirt Freshman from Montgomery, Alabama.
Height - 6’3”
Weight - 291 pounds
This Alabama native was a force to be reckoned with all through high school. Person was a standout at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School. He was an all-state selection and played in the 2018 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game. A true hometown rockstar.
Once he said goodbye to high school, he finished with 241 tackles and was ranked the No. 33 prospect in Alabama, and the No. 65 defensive tackle by ESPN.
Although Person might be an Alabama boy, IU was not the only Indiana school on his list.
“I had another visit scheduled for Purdue, but I cancelled it because I knew Indiana was the right fit.” Said Person in a Montgomery Advertiser article last year. The Hoosiers are happy to have this 291-pound tank on their team.
Person made his collegiate debut in the Rutgers win back in October. This past season Person had four tackles in the four games he appeared in. Only one for loss. He was named the defensive scout team player of the year and he was a two-time scout team player of the week. We are looking forward to what Person can do for the Hoosiers this year as he figures to be a major rotation player on a defensive line that needs more production in the middle.
